Hello! Although I just had my wisdom teeth removed yesterday, my mouth was feeling well enough for me to get out of the house today for about an hour. What was my motivation to get out of the house? Well, one of my favorite thrift stores was having its "Dollar Days" sale in which all clothing simply costs $1. How crazy is that? I ended up purchasing five items for just five bucks. Items that came home with me included vintage polka dot shorts, a striped tee shirt, a vintage daisy dress, a vintage gingham sleeveless button down and a vintage plaid romper. Several of the items that I purchased need a little bit of DIY love but they are definitely worth the extra little bit of work (nothing too fancy- mainly just shortening sleeves, hemming, studding, etc.)

These photos were taken right after my excursion to the thrift shop. Please excuse any puffiness/redness of my face due to my recent wisdom teeth removal surgery.

My outfit today was stylish yet cozy as I have spent most of my day curled up working on future blog posts, catching up on my favorite TV shows and working on DIYS (soon to be showcased!). I styled my outfit around these dark green knee-high socks that I recently received complimentary from Soxxy for review purposes. These are the Katie Socks and they retail for $35. They are made from 80% Merino Wool. And let me just say that I am absolutely in love with them. The first thing that attracted me to this specific pair of socks was the lovely green color. I am also very pleased by the comfort and coziness of the socks. They will be the perfect pair of socks to wear with my light-weight dresses this fall at PhilaU. Another major plus of Soxxy socks is that they feature a gripping material at the top of the socks so that you don't have to keep pulling up your socks all day- what a relief!

Today, I chose to pair my Soxxy socks with my vintage camouflage jacket. Although this jacket is more of a fall piece, I couldn't resist pulling it out of my wardrobe to wear today. I decided to not go too crazy with prints today and simply grabbed a polka dot wristlet to complement the print of my jacket.

The core of my outfit was relatively simple- just a white, lace peplum top, my favorite black shorts and my beat-up combat boots. I accessorized with a classic pair of sunglasses (thanks, Giant Vintage!) and a temporary tattoo intended to look like an eye (thanks, Wanderlustiny!)

My makeup consisted of cat-eye eyeliner and some ULTA lipstick. I threw my hair up in a bun with my black Goody Hair Ouchless Ribbon Elastic. I've been loving these Goody Hair Ouchless Ribbon Elastics that I recently received complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. They definitely make it easy to put my hair up and are much easier to take out than traditional hair elastics- no more getting tangled in my hair. And who likes to have to cut hair elastics out of their hair?

Hello! The other day my sister let me dress her up and posed for a mini-photo shoot with me and these are the results.

In my look, I went a little print-crazy, combining three different prints. But hey- it worked! My rule of thumb when it comes to mixing and matching prints is to make sure that the prints have a color in common. For example, my shorts in this look possess the same pink color as my crop top and black color as my heels and my heels and crop top both have the color white in them.

Also, when mixing and matching different prints, I would recommend not mixing more than three or so prints. When you go beyond three different prints, things can start to get a little bit wild. You can definitely rock more than three prints at a time, you just have to be a little bit more careful mixing and matching them.

I love the way that the three prints that I am wearing in this outfit look together. I especially love the way that I combined two different floral prints. Floral on floral-what fun! Definitely bold but not too overwhelming. To tone things down a bit, I kept my accessories simple, just wearing a few rings and a pair of retro sunglasses.

In this mini-photo shoot, the core of my sister's outfit was relatively simple- just an olive colored top and black shorts but I added interest with accessories. The black and white saddle shoes that I let her borrow conjure up images of fifties diners and Juke boxes. I continued to play up that retro vibe by letting her wear a pair of my cat-eye sunglasses. To add a small pop of color besides the olive to her look, I lent her my delicate pink flower crown.

On me:

Polka dot heels: Steve Madden
Floral shorts: Vintage
Floral crop top: DIY from an old top
Retro sunglasses: c/o Giant Vintage
Rings: Assorted (Charlotte Russe, ebay, vintage)

On Missi:

Black shorts: Vintage
Olive-colored top: Kenar
Saddle shoes: Urban Outfitters
Cat eye sunglasses: c/o Giant Vintage
Floral crown: DIY

Side note: Today, I got my wisdom teeth removed (all four of them!) and my mouth is quite swollen and sore. These photos were taken last weekend and I also wrote the post last weekend. If you would like to keep up with how I am doing after my surgery, I would suggest following me on twitter @ToriRadday. Also, I am a bit behind on emails. If you are waiting for a reply from me, bare with me! I will reply to you within a week.

Fall 2013 Wishlist

Fall 2013 Wishlist

Hello! Today I thought that I would share my fall 2013 wishlist with you guys. As you guys know, this fall I am heading off for my freshman year at PhilaU. In years past, I have gone shopping for BTS clothing almost every week throughout the summer. However, this summer I have only been on a few BTS shopping trips and have not purchased much clothing for next year. I plan on going out shopping to all of my favorite stores (Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, H&M, thrift shops) on my 18th birthday and buying the majority of my fall wardrobe on that trip. The items shown above and listed below are a few of the items that I would consider must-haves for next year.

1. Faux leather jacket. My faux leather jacket from last year served me well but is no longer in the best condition. But I definitely want to bring a faux leather jacket with me next year so the search for a new faux leather jacket is on. A faux leather jacket is perfect to slip on over a feminine dress or to add a bit of edge to a simple pair of jeans and a tee shirt (and of course, killer shoes.)

2. Black Doc Martens. You guys know that I wore my faux Doc Martens to death this past year which is precisely why I ordered my first pair from Urban Outfitters just a few days ago. And I purchased them on sale and they cost me $100 instead of $120. Who could say no to saving money?

3. Printed dresses. I would wear a printed dress everyday if I could. I plan on stocking up on these on my shopping spree. Printed dresses are perfect to wear alone or to layer with.

4. Colored crossbody bag. A crossbody in a fall tone such as red, maroon or forest green would add the perfect touch of color to my wardrobe.

5. Classic watch. A classic watch like the one shown above serves two purposes: add a dose of style to any look and keep track of the time.

6. Knit sweater. Need I say more?

7. Polka dot socks. Too cute to not have in my wardrobe this fall.

8. Statement necklace. Perfect for keeping an outfit from being too plain.

9. Statement studs. Add a quirky touch to any look.

10. Oversized black bag. Matches everything and holds everything- could a bag get much better than that?

What's on your fall wishlist?

Retro Swimsuits

Hello! My sister, Missi, posed for a few photos with me today. In addition to styling my look, I also styled Missi's look. Playful summer looks from the 1950's as well as swimsuit advertisements and summer fashion editorials from the 1950's inspired our looks. Call me old-fashioned but I much prefer the shape and style of retro bathing suits (hello, high-rise bikini bottoms!) to the skimpy, string-bikinis that are ever popular in today's society.

For this retro look, we both donned vintage bathing suits from my wardrobe. I played up the retro vibe with my vintage strapless one-piece while Missi rocked a vintage yellow bikini top. Of course, a retro look wouldn't be complete without high-rise shorts so Missi and I both grabbed our favorite pair of high-rise shorts from our closets. Her shorts are printed with a delightful floral pattern while mine are just a solid black. I slipped into a pair of simple blue sandals while Missi snatched my green flats from my wardrobe. Accessories were kept to a minimum. Missi simply wore a pair of round green shades while I wore my favorite bold sunglasses and stylish black flower crown

To give the photos a bit more of that 1950's beach-y look, Missi posed with a can of Coca Cola and I posed with a bottle of blue pop (purchased at World Market for just $1.50!) We headed out to a creek less than 5 minutes away from our house to take these photos.

On me:

Floral bathing suit: Vintage
Black shorts: Vintage Levi's
Blue sandals: Calvin Klein
Retro sunglasses: c/o Giant Vintage
Black flower crown: DIY

On Missi:

Yellow bikini top: Vintage
Floral shorts: Vintage
Round sunglasses: c/o Giant Vintage

DIY Studded Sunglasses Pouch

 photo e368f8d7-f8f6-4349-9426-241e491985df_zps58e857b8.jpg
Sunglasses: c/o Giant Vintage

Hello! It's been about a month since my last DIY so I thought that I would bring another one to you today. This DIY is for a studded sunglasses pouch.

A few months ago, I made a different DIY sunglasses pouch and I love it. I use it to protect the sunglasses that I keep in the glove compartment of my car. It serves its purpose of holding and protecting my sunglasses perfectly. So today I decided to make another sunglasses pouch but with a slightly different design- patterned and studded. So perfect for holding my sunglasses in my bag when out shopping. I will easily be able to find my sunglasses in my bag no matter how many other things are in my bag with this case holding them. These pouches can also be used to store sunglasses in your room or in your car.

Anyway, onto the DIY!

Level of difficulty: Easy to medium difficulty. You must be able to either hand-sew or machine-sew to complete this DIY.

Supplies: Patterned fabric, scissors, needle/sewing machine, thread, pins and studs.

Cost: The cost for this DIY should be very minimal. This DIY did not cost me any money because I already had all of the supplies. I used fabric from an old table cloth and studs left over from a different DIY project. If you are crafty like myself then you likely already have all the supplies and this DIY should not cost you any money. If you don't have any of the materials, the cost of the DIY should still be minimal. The studs should cost less than $3 and the fabric should cost less than $5.

Time: This DIY should take between 20 and 45 minutes depending on your DIY skills.

Steps:

1. Gather materials.

2. Measure how much fabric you would like to use by laying out the sunglasses on the fabric. The fabric should be able to cover the sunglasses with a little bit of wiggle room.

3. Fold the fabric inside out and pin it down. Make sure that you don't pin the opening of the sunglasses pouch down. You need to be able to get the sunglasses in and out of the pouch after all!

4. Either hand-sew or use your sewing machine to sew the fabric (still inside out) together. Turn the case right-side out. Now you have your pouch!

5. Use studs to adorn the outside of the pouch. Use as many or as few studs as you would like to create the look that you were going for.

6. Toss your sunglasses in your DIY studded sunglasses pouch and you are ready to go!

Summer Days Drifting Away

Hello! As my post title suggests, my summer days are drifting away (anyone catch the Grease reference?) I have exactly one month before I move into my dorm at PhilaU. And I have so much more to do before then- dorm room shopping, school supply shopping, wisdom teeth removal, work, the list goes on and on. This last month of summer will be filled with both preparation for college and relaxation while I soak in the last days of summer.

Today, I styled my look around these bright sunflower-yellow shorts. Although I usually shy away from bright colors (and yellow in fact), I am hooked on these shorts. I end up wearing them practically every week. They are bright but not in an obnoxious over the top way. However, I try to tone them done a little when I wear them either by styling them with neutral or dark colors. And of course, I love the high-rise of the shorts which gives them the loveliest retro vibe

For today's look, I paired them with my dark green blouse. This shirt has also gotten a lot of wear this summer. You can see other ways that I have styled it this summer HERE, HERE, HERE & HERE. What can I say? The dark green color has me swooning! Not to mention the fact that I can wear it with practically anything and everything.

I decided to throw a print into the mix by donning these black and white polka dot heels. I love the chunky, platform heel of these shoes. It makes them much easier to walk in than sky-high, spike stilettos. I accessorized by grabbing a stylish pair of sunglasses and by pinning a few buttons on my blouse including a Disney Pluto pin, "Dressed to Kill" button and "H" button. Red lipstick polished the look off.

Hello! Temperatures continue to stay in 90's here in Richmond so to stay cool I slipped on this olive green romper. To keep my curls out of my face, I tied on a vintage scarf around my head. My feet were decked out in my white Urban Outfitters boots. I accessorized with vintage Chanel earrings and Giant Vintage Sunglasses.

In these photos, you can also see my new iPhone case. Wanderlustiny recently sent me several items to review including this iPhone case and countless temporary tattoos (more on that in the next paragraph). What I love the most about this iPhone case is that it is in the shape of a skull. How awesome is that? The design is very unique and I feel very fortunate to have this case. I am also very impressed with the quality of this case. Another thing that I love about this case is that there is easy access to all buttons and features. No need to take off the case if I want to charge my phone or listen to music with headphones. Unlike other phone cases of the same quality/ style, this case is very affordable. You can find this case HERE for $8.99. They sell it in both pink and black for both the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 5. While on their site, I would also definitely check out their other iPhone cases. They are all so adorable! In particular, the Retro Cassette case and Airmail case are super cute.

And now onto the review of the temporary tattoos that Wanderlustiny sent me. I can describe them in just one word: perfect. If you've been following my blog for a while then you would know that one of the things on my summer bucket list was to experiment with temporary tattoos. Well, I can cross that off! Wanderlustiny sent me the Grunge Style Tattoos ($6.99) and the Eye Tattoos ($1.59). In the photos above, I am wearing a skull tattoo from the grunge set. It was very easy to apply. As for how well it has held up, it is holding up pretty well but I only put it on today. I will let you know how it holds up over the next few days. If you are looking for inexpensive temporary tattoos, I would definitely check Wanderlustiny out. Not only do they have grunge style temporary tattoos but also hipster and retro temporary tattoos.

Wanderlustiny also sells bracelets, earrings, rings, necklaces and hair accessories. You can check them out HERE.

Rocket Dog Sandals

Hello! It is too hot here in RVA; temperatures have begun to soar into the 90's. Can it just be fall already? In order to cope with the summer heat, I threw on a thin graphic tee and black vintage Levi's. Most over-worn tee in my wardrobe? Definitely this one! Only over-worn tee in my wardrobe? Quite possibly as I typically shy away from wearing tees. However, I make an exception for this tee. This tee's combination of quirky and stylish has me falling head over heels. It reads "Bonjour, Je M'Appelle ____________," or "Hello, my name is ____________" for my readers who don't know the French language (myself included). I love everything French so it should come as no surprise that I adore this tee.

I accessorized with a handful of silver rings and fabulous retro sunglasses. Recently, I received these sunglasses from Giant Vintage Sunglasses and have been obsessing with them every since. If you follow my instagram and/or twitter then you have probably already seen these sunglasses in your feed. While a good deal of black sunglasses tend to be boring, these sunglasses are anything but boring! The glamorous retro shape and large size make these sunglasses stand out from the rest. You can find these showstoppers HERE for just $20.

Today, I also wore my newest Rocket Dog sandals. Recently, Rocket Dog sent me these sandals to review on my blog. These are the "Vilette Little Gem" sandals in silver. They can be purchased HERE for $44.95. As soon as I spotted these on Rocket Dog's website, I knew that they would be the ones that I would chose to review. And although, I haven't been big on sandals this summer, these sandals are different. These sandals are my ideal sandals. They combine two of the biggest things that I look for in a pair of shoes: trendiness and versatility. The transparent strap on the sandals instantly drew me in because transparent straps on shoes is definitely trending this summer. However, the silver straps make them versatile enough to wear everyday. And I am most certainly pleased with these sandals. They are even cuter in person than online and fit very well/ run true to size. And even better, they are pretty comfortable.

In these photos, I posed with my August issue of Marie Claire. I just cannot get enough of this magazine! Every month, I eagerly await its arrival in the mail.

I hope that you guys are enjoying your summer! I still cannot believe that half of the summer has already passed by.

Vintage Vixen

 photo garden2_zpsf34775f5.jpg

Hello! It's been too hot here in Richmond the past few days. Due to the hot weather, I have been resorting to wearing high-rise shorts and light-weight tops essentially every day for the past week or so. This look was very retro-inspired what with the cutesy head scarf, bold red lipstick and the high-rise of my shorts. It also helps that every piece of clothing and accessory that I have on (with the exception of one bracelet) is vintage. What can I say? Vintage is where it is at!

Speaking of vintage, I am wearing quite a few of my favorite vintage pieces in this look. My head scarf is perhaps my all-time favorite vintage piece. It is very light-weight and has the prettiest neutral pattern printed upon it. Not to mention that it is great at keeping the hair out of my face! It can also be worn as a regular scarf or tied around a bag. I was very fortunate to have this piece passed down to me by my great grandmother.

I would also consider this set of cream-colored luggage one of my best vintage finds. It is perfect to bring with me on trips! And it is guaranteed that no one else will have the same set of luggage.

Oh and exciting news! I am now the proud owner of an iPhone. My recently ordered iPhone 4 just came in the mail yesterday and I spent yesterday afternoon setting it up. I am now on both instagram and twitter. Follow me @ToriRadday!

Hello! Look what is back...my olive romper! I seriously cannot get enough of this romper. I know that I've probably said it a million times (alright, maybe not quite a million) but I LOVE this romper. There are so many different ways to style it. Last time that I wore it, I wore it as a top by layering a polka dot skirt over it. Do you guys remember that look? If not, you can always take a peek at it again HERE. Anyway, today I chose to switch things up by styling it as a pair of shorts by pairing a mustard-colored tank top over top of it.

I am absolutely in love with the way that the olive color of the romper and the mustard color of the tank look together. I played that up by donning a pair of flatform sandals that are very close in color to my tank top. A DIY daisy crown and black heart sunglasses pulled the look together. In these photos, I am also posing with my latest read, The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway.

This is one of my favorite looks in a while and that is primarily due to how the texture of the romper and texture of the tank interact. Aside from mixing and matching different patterns, I adore combining different textures. The eyelet texture of the romper emphasizes the open knit texture of the tank top and vise versa.

Today I also tried out a new beauty product- Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream. You can see that I also posed with it for a photo. I received this product for free from Influenster for review purposes. I have never used BB cream before so using it was a whole new experience for me.

On the Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream box, it describes the BB cream: "fresh & free: No oil or PABA. Just the good stuff. B.B. Cream, also known as beauty balm, is one of Asia's hottest beauty sensations. Its multitasking formula works to moisturize, brighten and help protect skin from harmful UV rays. This silky, tinted lotion blends effortlessly with your natural skin tone, helping hide imperfections and minimizing the need for concealer and foundation. With just one use, skin will be left glowing and naturally even."

My experience with the using the BB cream is definitely a positive one. It smells incredible. Very refreshing. Unlike sunscreens, this BB cream is very light-weight and doesn't feel like it weighs down my entire face. I also liked the fact that it was very sheer. I will certainly be using this product again! It is perfect because this one product, Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream, serves several purposes (including protection against the sun). Say good bye to toting around a ton of different facial products (foundations, moisturizers, etc.) and hello to simply carrying this product around! You can pick this up at your local drug store, Amazon.com or here for $12.99.

Hello! Today, I am celebrating four years of posts here on Fashion, Trends & More. When I started this blog back in July of 2010 at the young age of 14, I did not really have any expectations. Little did I know how many opportunities my blog would bring. It has provided me with the opportunity to interact with other like-minded people, work with numerous brands, be featured on major websites and in print and really express myself.

4 years. 526 posts. 22 giveaways. 139,000 page views. 575 followers with GFC. 3,378 comments. Can you believe that? Because I sure can't! The past four years on Fashion, Trends & More have been absolutely wonderful and I'm sure that they will continue to be wonderful for years and years to come. This blog is my baby and I could never give it up. I will continue to fill this space with words, inspiration, DIYs and photographs.  Want more? Below are some of my best posts from the last four years.

2010:
Fall Shoes (my first post!)
School-Boy Fall Look (one of the first times that I wrote about a trend)

2011:
Girls' Life Feature (the first time that I was featured by Girls' Life)
Weekend Glory (an example of how my photos began to improve over time)
Earthy Tones (and the leopard print obsession begins)
Godwin Prom Fashion Show (my first experience with a fashion show)

2012:
The Roaring 20's (one of my favorite decades)
Out to Eat (I felt so artsy in this outfit)
Nags Head (sharing photos from my trip to Nags Head)
Milkmaid (trying out a new hairstyle- blogging has pushed me to try out new things)
Snow White (these photos would later win me $300)
DIY Flower Crown (to be seen on my head frequently throughout 2012 and 2013)
Cat's Meow (one of my best outfits)
10 Back to School Essentials (a great reference for this upcoming school year!)

2013:
3 Ways to Style Black, High-Rise Shorts (black high-rise shorts = my fave shorts)
DIY Polka Dot Crop Top (one of my most loved DIY projects)
Graduation 2013 (marked a huge step in my life)
Celebrating 500 Posts (almost as exciting as celebrating 4 years!)
Coca Cola (photo shoot with my sis)

And of course, I couldn't finish this post without writing a little bit more about my outfit. I started styling this outfit around a light green snakeskin print bandeau. In order for the print of the bandeau to be visible, I simply layered a sheer white blouse over top of it. I highlighted the green in the bandeau by accessorizing with round green specs and an oversize green clutch. I also accessorized with several golden rings and Chanel earrings. To keep the look from being too busy, I stuck with plain black shorts and black combat boots. Who says you can't wear combat boots in the summer? Believe it or not, they are essentially all that I have been wearing this summer!
