RichBroads x Darla Magazine Giveaway

RichBroads

RichBroads

Hello! Out of everyone that I've met so far in Philadelphia, I've felt most inspired by one of my former peers at Philadelphia University, Victoria Pickens. Like myself, Victoria attended PhilaU for fashion merchandising and management. I met her through my school's style publication, StyleLine, when I was just a freshman. I was instantly taken aback by her effortlessly cool style and clear drive and motivation. Through working with Victoria on StyleLine, I began to learn more about her and admired her hard work and dedication to her fashion-oriented goals.

Victoria graduated last year and has since then launched her own online magazine, Darla Magazine, and more recently through Darla Magazine, co-launched a streetwear brand, Rich Broads. Rich Broads seeks to provide creative, driven women with hip streetwear. Location also plays a key role in the brand as the brand is based in both Richmond, VA and Philadelphia, PA. Victoria explains, "We're excited to start creating and sharing merchandise that reflect the lifestyles and cultures of girls from Richmond, VA + Philadelphia, PA. Both cities are close-knit with creatives who are passionate about fashion, music, and various other forms of art and we want to share our communities with the world from the perspective of a 20-something dream chaser."

So far, Rich Broads has released a mini collection of three different limited edition tee shirts: a "Petty" tee, a "hustle" tee and a "DREAM" tee. The tees retail for $30 each.

And today, you're in luck because RichBroads is giving away one of their limited edition "Petty" tees to one lucky Fashion, Trends & More reader. Head on over to my Instagram account @toriradday to enter to win. All you have to do is follow myself @toriradday, @richbroads and @darlalaland on Instagram, like the giveaway photo and leaving a comment tagging two of your best friends who might like a chance to win the tee. What are you waiting for? Go ahead and enter! Giveaway will run for two weeks from today.

KJCouture $50 Gift Card Giveaway

Photos by Taisha Stewart
Photos by Taisha Stewart
Photos by Taisha Stewart

Hello! Recently, KJCouture sent me this gorgeous blush-colored dress to style on my blog and the second that I received it, I immediately fell in love. This is their "blush cutout bodycon dress" and it's currently on sale for $44.99.

The dusty pink blush color of the dress mimics the charming shade of "rose quartz", one of the hottest colors this season as deemed by Pantone, the color expert. Besides its trendy color, I'm digging the interesting neckline of this dress. Like the blush-color, the neckline is also very on trend right now. What I love about this neckline even more than its trendiness is the retro sixties essence. The trendy meets mod appeal of this dress has me falling head over heels in love with it.

So when my best friend, Taisha, asked me to be a part of her final photography shoot, I just knew that I had to pull this little blush-colored dress out for the occasion. To create contrast, I styled the dress with a major faux fur coat and neutral platform heels. I layered on golden accessories including a handful of golden rings and delicate golden earrings. I added to the glam appeal of the look with a fabulous shade of cat-eye sunglasses and a bold red lipstick.

Want the blush-colored bodycon dress that I'm wearing for yourself but don't have extra money to spend on your wardrobe right now? Well, today I've teamed up with KJCouture to give one reader a $50 KJCouture gift card! If you're the lucky giveaway winner, you could use your gift card to scoop up one of their blush bodycon dresses for yourself. They also have a wonderful selection of other dresses, tops, bottoms, rompers, jumpsuits, outerwear, swimwear, shoes and accessories. If you browse through their site, you're almost guaranteed to fall in love with something (or if you're like me, basically everything.)

Woodstock Platforms

April 2016
April 2016

Hello! Let me introduce you guys to my latest Poshmark find: these gorgeous wooden platform heels. When I spotted these platform heels on Poshmark, I knew that they had to be mine. The platform heel, neutral color and seventies nostalgia of these platform heels immediately drew me to them. Originally, these shoes were from Nasty Gal and retailed for $90 + shipping. I scored them for only $30 (including shipping!) The previous owner had only worn them once and they were in perfect condition when I received them.

If you're not already on Poshmark, I'd recommend signing up! You can clear out your closet and make a little extra money while adding a few new beauties to your wardrobe at the same time. If you sign up with code JXTJA, you'll automatically receive a $10 credit. And with many items for less than $10 on Poshmark, it's a no-brainer to sign up and take advantage of the $10 credit.

For this look, I wanted to play off the hippie aura of the shoes by pairing them with a retro floral dress. The warm colors and breezy silhouette of this dress contribute to the laid-back, bohemian feel of the look. I accessorized with several pieces of golden jewelry, a peach-colored tote bag and my Givenchy sunglasses.

Marble Print Details

April 2016
April 2016

Hello! When I recently opened my April UniversiteeBox, the first thing that went through my head was "yasssss." UniversiteeBox is a monthly subscription box full of fashion and lifestyle goodies for college-aged customers. Boxes range from $17-$35 per month. I've been a UniversiteeBox influenster for a few months now and the April box was definitely my favorite one so far. Marble printed jewelry including a cool marble print necklace, marble print earrings and marble print ring as well as a tasty cake pop, affirmation card and cool graphic tee were all included in the box.

I couldn't wait to wear the marble print pieces of jewelry that were in the box and styled them with my outfit the very next day. I wanted to keep it classic and stick to a black and white color scheme with a hint of gold. I styled the look around a black and white polka dot slip dress. I paired a pair of black platform heels and cool cat-eye sunglasses with the dress. I accessorized with the marble printed necklace, ring and earrings as well as with several other golden bracelets.

Spring/Summer 2016 Trend Report: Baby Blue

Baby Blue Trend

Baby Blue Trend #2

Hello! I'm not usually super into color trends; I tend to stick to neutral colors and steer away from colors that are too trendy. However, the color baby blue is trending this season and I could not be anymore in love with the trend. I've already added several new baby blue pieces to my wardrobe and am tempted to wear them constantly.

Pantone predicted that "serenity blue", an airy shade of light blue, would be one of the biggest color trends this season and boy was Patone right about that. They've cited Emilio Sosa, Rachel Pally and Harbison as just a few of the designers who've incorporated serenity blue into their spring fashion collections.

Other well-known designers that sent light blue designs down the runway for Spring/Summer 2016 ready-to-wear include Oscar De La Renta, Christian Dior, Milly and Carven. I can't get over how much I love the breezy baby blue pieces that Milly sent down the runway (pictured in the third colum in the second photo.)

You can stock up on baby blue items at almost all of your favorite retailers. I really love the selection of baby blue pieces that Tobi (including this sweet dress and adorable romper), Nasty Gal and Forever 21 currently offer.

Seventies Meet Nineties

April 2016

Hello! Out of all the jumpsuits I own, this one from Tobi definitely has the most "wow" factor. It immediately catches everyone's attention and oozes seventies nostalgia. This is Tobi's "Front of the Line Pinstripe Jumpsuit" and it retails for $48. However, all first-time Tobi shoppers receive 50% off their first purchase meaning that you could score this jumpsuit for $24 instead of $48.

For this look, I wanted to emphasize the 1970's flair of the jumpsuit so I paired a bohemian pair of wedges, bright pink lipstick and personalized name necklace with the jumpsuit. I added to the retro vibe with a pair of cat-eye sunglasses. The look felt very "seventies meet nineties" and I love it. It almost reminds me of the fashion in the 90's classic, Reality Bites

Spring Shoot- Mikhail Veter
Spring Shoot- Mikhail Veter

Hello! I didn't realize what I was missing out on in my wardrobe until I received this gorgeous, blue, off-the-shoulder dress from Tobi. How have I not added any off-the-shoulder pieces to my wardrobe before now?? I'm in love! This is their "All About Lace Shift Dress" and it retails for $98. However, all first-time Tobi shoppers get a special 50% discount off their first purchase so this beauty could be yours for $49.

I think that this dress may be my favorite dress that I have ever owned. I can't get over the flattering off-the-shoulder silhouette, deep blue color, interesting texture and bohemian pattern. Perfect for a night out or a day on the boardwalk by the beach, this beauty is the definition of summer versatility in dress form. Now if only I can resist wearing this dress everyday....

For this look, I styled the dress with a simple pair of light-green flatforms and vintage embellished clutch. I accessorized with several golden rings, golden bracelets and a dainty pair of golden earrings. A shade of deep pink lipstick and classic Givenchy sunglasses pulled the look together.

Baby Blue Dream

Spring Shoot- Mikhail Veter
Spring Shoot- Mikhail Veter

Hello! When I first laid eyes on this baby blue romper online on Tobi, I fell head over heels in love. The soft, trendy baby blue color and feminine silhouette of this color instantly drew me to it. What I love even more is the versatility of this romper; it can be worn out with your friends on Saturday night and then also to brunch the next morning. The styling possibilities are endless! This is their "Mya Romper" in light blue. It retails for $54. However, all first-time Tobi customers receive 50% off their first purchase so you could score this beauty for just $27!

If this romper tempts you, I'd suggest checking out all that Tobi has to offer. I'm a big fan of all of the jumpsuits, rompers, crop tops, dresses, maxi dresses and skirts that Tobi sells. Tobi, an online fashion retailers, caters to fashion-forward females. They offer trendy, stylish pieces for prices that won't make your wallet cry out. And for 50% off your first purchase, it's definitely worth checking out.

For this look, I styled the romper with a coordinating pair of baby blue mules- I just can't get enough of this color this season! I accessorized with several pieces of jewelry including a variety of different rings, bracelets and a personalized necklace. I added an extra dose of style to this look with bold black-and-gold cat-eye sunglasses and a deep shade of pink lipstick.

My Selling Experience on Poshmark: 13 Tips, Tricks & Thoughts

Poshmark

Hello! About two months ago, I joined Poshmark and I've been hooked ever since. Poshmark is an app on your phone that allows you to easily sell and buy gently-used, fashion-forward clothing, shoes and accessories. It's easy as can be to sell; all you need to do is snap a few photos on your phone of the item you're selling, write a short description and upload it to Poshmark.

In the past two months, I've sold about 55 listings and have made over $250. It's the perfect way to get rid of some of your unwanted clothing, shoes and accessories before a big move or if you're doing some spring cleaning. I wanted to cut down on the amount of stuff that I'm bringing with me on my move from Philly to Richmond in a couple weeks so I'm glad I joined Poshmark. Of course, I'm no expert but I would say that I've have mild success with Poshmark over the past two months and wanted to share 13 tips/tricks and thoughts about my Poshmark experience with you all.

Tips/Tricks for selling:

1. Share all the items in your closet at least once a day. The more exposure that your items get, the more likely it is that they will be purchased.

2. Offer a bundle discount. Encourage customers to purchase more than one item from our closet with a bundle discount! Because selling two items is much better than one and a 10-20% discount won't make a huge impact on your profit.

3. Interact with other users. Poshmark is a friendly selling platform, it has its own sort of culture. Share other closet listings, leave comments, follow other closets, etc. The more you interact with other closets, the more they will interact with you, boosting your exposure and potential to sell.

4. Participate in parties. Poshmark hosts "parties" everyday where you can share your items for even more exposure. Take a few minutes to share your items into these parties and you may end up with a few new shoppers. I've sold several items through sharing into the parties before.

5. Ship quickly. Want repeat customers? Ship quickly and customers will appreciate it.

6. Package your sales nicely. This also plays into gaining repeat customers.

Tips/Tricks for buying:

7. Watch your favorite brands for new items added. Spot the best deals before anyone else by watching your favorite brands' "just in" sections. I scored $15 Jeffrey Campbells by doing this!

8. Make an offer on the item you're considering before buying it. Buyers are often willing to slightly lower their price if you use the "make an offer" button and saving a few bucks is always worth it.

9. Ask questions. You want to be happy with your purchase so make sure you know everything you want to know about the product before purchasing it such as does it fit true to size? is it machine washable? etc.

Other thoughts:

10. People will low-ball you offers. Don't be too offended and don't feel like you need to accept the offer. If anyone offers me $3 for any item (especially if they're a seller and know about Poshmark fees), I block them.

11. Poshmark does charge a fee for selling. However, Poshmark only charges a fee once your item sells and it outweighs the cost of shipping it on your own as Poshmark pays for your shipping. Poshmark charges $2.95 for sales under $15 and 20% of sales over $15.

12. Some days you'll sell two or three things, other times you may not sell something for a week. Don't be discouraged.

13. USPS will send you boxes for free to ship your sales out in. Save on packaging costs by taking advantage of this! Also save boxes from your own purchases to re-use.

And finally, if you're not already on Poshmark, I would highly suggest downloading the app and see what all the hype is about. Sign up with code JXTJA and receive a $10 credit towards your first purchase.

$5 Rag & Bone Blazer

April 2016
April 2016

Hello! While I was home for spring break a few weeks ago, I flitted around Richmond from one thrift shop to the next. Luckily, Richmond is rich in the number of thrift shops in my area. On one of my thrifting excursions, I dropped by Goodwill and my eyes were instantly drawn to this blazer. The unique pattern and versatile black and white color combination drew me to this blazer.

In just a few weeks, I'm graduating from Philadelphia University and I've been on the search for my first real career-type job. While searching for a job, I've realized that I'm also going to need to make my wardrobe a little more "adult"- not just for job interviews but for the job itself as well. This means more blazers, sophisticated pieces and longer hemlines. So when I spotted this blazer, I crossed my fingers that it would fit. As I picked it up to try it on, I discovered that this blazer was a Rag & Bone blazer. I had struck gold! This blazer originally retailed for about $500 and there it was hanging on the racks of Goodwill for just $5. It fit me perfectly and I can't even express how pleased I am with this purchase.

For this look, I styled the blazer with a classic black jumpsuit. I accessorized with the most gorgeous pair of black and gold cat-eye sunglasses and several pieces of golden jewelry. My golden ring, golden bar necklace and delicate golden earrings are all from my most recent Rocksbox. For those of you who haven't heard of Rocksbox, it's a monthly jewelry subscription company with the most charming pieces of jewelry. I've been wearing this month's pieces almost non-stop. You can sign up with code toriraddayxoxo for a free month trial.

To keep the look from feeling dull, I added a slight pop of color with a feminine pink shade of lipstick and burgundy Jeffrey Campbell platform heels. These platform heels are also a newer addition to my wardrobe. I snatched them up on Poshmark for just $50- an absolute steal. They were in perfect condition and originally retailed for over $150.

I've only been using Poshmark for about two months but I'm completely obsessed. Poshmark is an app that lets you buy and sell fashionable gently-used shoes, clothing and accessories. I've made over $250 through selling clothing, shoes and accessories that I no longer use in the past couple months. I've also purchased a few new pairs of shoes for just a fraction of their original retail value. If you're not already on Poshmark, I highly suggest signing up! If you sign up with code JXTJA you will receive a $10 credit towards your first purchase.

Peachy Keen

March 2016
March 2016

Hello! These photos were taken a few weeks ago while I was home in Richmond for spring break. If only it was still warm enough for me to simply don a lightweight dress and pair of wedges! Spring, where are you?

For this look, I started with this peach-y dress. The nostalgic color, interesting use of line, open back and lace texture of this dress make it one of my favorite dresses in my wardrobe. There's a feminine, romantic vintage-inspired feeling to this dress so I decided to emphasize that by styling a dainty, floral vintage purse, cat-eye sunglasses and a classic statement necklace with the dress. A simple pair of black wedges completed the look.

Spring/Summer 2016 Trend I'm Loving Right Now: Mirrored/Reflective Sunglasses

Mirrored/Reflective Sunglasses Trend

Hello! As we launch into the spring/summer 2016 season, it's exciting to see all the different spring/summer trends emerge. Say goodbye to your bulky winter sweaters and array of faux fur coats and say hello to some of the hottest spring trends from Pantone's pastel spring 2016 colors to lightly distressed denim to pineapple prints. Right now, I'm absolute loving the reflective/mirrored sunglasses trend. There's something that feels so fresh and modern about this trend that I can't help but fall in love with it.

And it's so easy to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe! No need to spend $100 on that super trendy dress this season, instead snatch up a reflective pair of shades that will match almost all your looks and only cost $20-$25. Giant Vintage Sunglasses has a few great options that I've fallen in love with including their "Toronto" sunglasses ($22), their "Arden" sunglasses ($25) and their "Milo" sunglasses ($22).

Manayunk StrEAT Food Festival

April 2016

Hello! Who would think that I'd still be wearing this huge faux fur coat in the middle of April? Yesterday, a few of my friends and I attended the StrEAT Food Festival in Manayunk. Although it was much colder than usual for the food festival, we still had a great time. Mouth-watering food trucks lined Main Street in Manayunk and it was a great break from my own (poor) cooking. I feasted on the best mac & cheese from the Mac Mart food truck and also the best strawberry ice cream from another food truck later on.

Taisha, Lauren and I snapped a quick photo of our outfits together before we began our food journey down Main Street. The cold weather prompted us to layer up in faux fur and cozy coats. For my look, I styled my black and white faux fur coat with a black and white polka dot slip dress and fun reflective sunglasses. I scooped these sunglasses up at GoJane a couple months ago and love the trendy reflective style and the playful fruit accents on the sunglasses. Lauren also donned a pair of reflective sunglasses alongside her denim dress and bold lipstick. Taisha styled her look around feminine pastel colors.

Malibu Sandals

April 2016
April 2016

Hello! What are the only sandals that I'll ditch my beloved heels and wedges for? These Malibu sandals. Recently, Malibu Sandals sent me this stylish pair of sandals to showcase on my blog and I'm completely and totally in love with them. These are the "Women's Trancas" in whiskey and they retail for $79.95. Malibu Sandals strives to create comfortable, stylish sandals that are also PETA-approved. Additionally, they've partnered up with California Wildlife Center and a percentage of their sales go benefit the CWC. These are sandals that you can feel good about buying and wearing.

For this look, I styled the sandals with my black jumpsuit. It was a little chilly windy outside so I layered a black fringe kimono over the jumpsuit. You can even tell from the first photo how windy it was! I accessorized with a silver statement necklace and cool pair of silver shades

UniversiteeBox: "Do Epic Chic"

April 2016

Hello! I've been an influenster for UniversiteeBox for a few months now and each time my monthly UniversiteeBox package arrives, my day is immediately made. For those of you who aren't familiar with UniversiteeBox, they are a fashion-forward monthly lifestyle box catered to college students. Monthly subscriptions range from $16.95 to $34.95 per month.

In my latest UniversiteeBox, I received a funky statement necklace, this "DO EPIC CHIC" tank top and this pair of trendy sunglasses. For this look, I wanted to take the tank top and style a chic, fashion-forward look around it. I played off the pink color of the lettering of the tank top by styling it with a pair of watercolor floral shorts which have the same pink color in the print.

It was chilly outside so I layered a black duster cardigan and white faux fur vest with the look. I also slipped into a pair of black thigh-high socks and gray heeled booties. The trendy shades that I received in my March 2016 UniversiteeBox pulled the look together.

Retro Quirk

March 2016
March 2016

Hello! These photos were taken a few weeks ago while I was in Richmond over spring break and I'm impatiently waiting until I can break out this pineapple print dress again. Why must it be cold again? I thought I was done with my winter coats and fleece-lined tights!

I scored this pineapple print dress at Forever 21 a couple months ago for just under $15 and am completely obsessed. The trendy print, effortless silhouette and vibrant colors make it my ideal spring dress.

For this look, I wanted to create a retro, quirky outfit revolving around the dress. I played up the retro aspect of this look with a 1950's-inspired pair of cat-eye sunglasses and a cute vintage yellow purse. I added a bit of spunk to the look with a navy blue bandana neck scarf. A pair of green suede wedges pulled the look together.

5 Spring Wardrobe Essentials

5 Spring Essentials

Hello! As I walked outside today to see snowflakes falling around outside me, I almost couldn't believe that it's April. April and snow??? The weather over spring break was an absolute tease and I'm yearning for those sunny skies and warm temperatures again. While I've been dreaming of warmer weather, I've also been dreaming of all of the clothing that is typically reserved for warmer weather. Today, I wanted to share my five spring wardrobe essentials with you all.

1. Wedge sandals. My love for wedge sandals and flatforms are unrivaled. They're easy to walk in and accentuate my long legs when paired with a sundress or romper.

2. Patterned sundresses. These are essentially all that I wear in the spring/summer. They're effortless, stylish and keep you cool in the warmer weather.

3. A variety of rompers and jumpsuits. There's nothing I love more than a chic romper or jumpsuit!

4. A go-to lightweight kimono. Perfect for throwing on over your favorite sundress or romper on those slightly chilly spring days. Bonus points for fringe detailing!

Romp On

March 2016

Hello! You can never have enough rompers, right? That's at least what I told myself when I added this adorable gray and white polka dot romper to my wardrobe a couple weeks ago. I scooped this beauty up at Ashby while I was home in Richmond for spring break. I was immediately drawn to the whimsical mood, sweet gray and white polka dot print and fitted silhouette of this romper. It's the perfect piece that can either be dressed up or down. I can see this piece taking me from a day at the art museum to dinner and drinks with friends.

For this look, I styled the romper with a pair of boho wedges to accentuate my long legs. I slipped on a few other bohemian pieces with the look including several golden bracelets and a native-inspired golden necklace to create a free-spirited mood. A stylish pair of golden sunglasses pulled the look together.

$2 Vintage Beauty

March 2016

Hello! There's no better feeling than discovering a hidden vintage beauty at a thrift shop for practically pennies. So when I spotted this gorgeous, flowing black skirt at Salvation Army a few weeks ago for roughly just $2, I was ecstatic. The flowing vintage style, midi length and classic black color all make this skirt a winner.

For this look, I wanted to emphasize the sophistication and elegance of the skirt so I paired it with a vintage black lace top. I scooped this vintage black lace top up at a thrift shop several years ago and it's probably my best vintage find to date. It only cost 50 cents and I've worn it countless times. It's so unbelievably versatile and easy to style.

I added a slight hint of color to this look by slipping on my pair of green suede wedges and grabbing my vintage green clutch. Like the skirt and top I'm wearing above, this clutch was also a vintage steal. I purchased it at a large church yard sale a few years ago for less than $1. Talk about a good deal! So believe it or not, the basis of my outfit (the skirt, top and clutch) all cost less than $5 combined. I did spend a little over $150 on the wedges but hey, they were a birthday gift to myself! And I've definitely worn them enough times to justify spending so much money on them.

A retro, 50s-inspired pair of black cat-eye sunglasses gave this vintage outfit the finishing touch.
