Oh La La

Hi! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. My presents were scrumptiously chic; my faux fur leopard print bag (worn above) is one of my more treasured presents. I also received this faux pearl and diamond watch that suits me just perfectly. Pearl and diamond combos? Swoon! Using some of my most adored Christmas gifts, I tried to create a luxe-boho chic look today. A glittery belt, pearls, lace shorts and a faux fur leopard print bag did the job wonderfully!

Christmas Eve

I hope you all are enjoying your Christmas Eve! To celebrate, my family went out to Maggiano's, an Italian restaurant, for lunch. My sister and I ordered fettuccine alfredo to share; it was delicious! Later my family is going out to see a movie and then to a holiday party. I opted to wear one of my favorite maxi skirts and dressed it down with a denim blouse. Accessories were added to make it more eye-catching.

Thrifting Tips

Hi! Today I would like to share some of my thrifting tips with you. You may have noticed that usually I am wearing at least one thrifted item whether it is an accessory or an item of clothing or both! Some of the tips may not work for you but I try to live by them.

1. Be picky. Don't buy an item just because it is cheap. Make sure that you love the piece. It is much better to have a small wardrobe that contains clothing and accessories that you love than an overflowing closet with items that you find bland. If you don't believe that you can be stylish with a small wardrobe, head on over to Clothed Much and check out the fabulous outfits Elaine puts together with a tiny closet.

2. Before you buy something, examine it. Look for stains, rips, or holes. Some items you can salvage through dry cleaning and sewing while others are best left alone. Also be aware of the scent of an item. Some smells remain even after you wash the item. If you love the item, take the risk but sometimes it's best to just put the item back.

3. Get crafty. Found a dress with a pattern that you adore but the length doesn't work for you? Break out your sewing machine and hem it! Ruffles, studs, lace and other embellishments can also spruce up a thrifted item. Some items are just screaming for a DIY! Check out Madsion Avenue for some great reconstruction ideas and inspiration.

4. Keep your eyes open and dig! Some of the best items are hidden. Don't be afraid to roll up your sleeves and search for the perfect piece.

5. Look for sales. Sales in thrift shops? Yes! Some thrift shops offer a discount on certain colored tags. I always seek out these items. Who doesn't love getting a great deal? Tanya from Fabulous For $50 or Under is an expert at getting good deals.

6. Buy what you love. Simple as that.

Hope these tips help!

Retro

Hi! Today was my mom's birthday so my family headed out to Nacho Mama's, Anthill Antiques, an antique mall and Maymont. While at Maymont, I had my mom take some photos of me and my outfit. It was suprisingly warm in RVA today- like 60 degrees!- even though it's December. I chose to take this warm weather as an opportunity to wear my recently re-created shorts. I paired them with a lovely black bow-tie blouse, my new favorite watch, a big clutch, cheetah print, red lipstick and oxford flats. I love the retro feel of my cheetah print headband and red lipstick with the rest of the outfit. Anyways, I hope you are enjoying your winter break!

Ruby Red

Hi! I hope you all have had a wonderful start to your week! I think that I may be sick. However, this does not bother me too much as is this is my last week of school before winter break. Can you believe that Christmas is so soon? I feel like it has crept up on us- I haven't even finished my holiday shopping!

Today, I wore one of my favorite winter 2011 trends- a knit circle scarf. So cozy and chic! This red scarf is actually an early Christmas present from my aunt. I paired the scarf with a matching skirt, black sweater, black tights, a statement ring and brown boots. In my opinion, this outfit is the epitome of casual yet cute.

Leopard Print Maxi

Hi! I hope that you all have had a lovely week so far. I also would like to thank my new followers! I don't think that you know how much I love seeing that I have another follower. Anyways, today I wore my favorite skirt: my sheer leopard maxi skirt. Remember when I said I could wear it a million different ways? I really could- it is just so darn versatile! Today, I paired it with my DIY studded denim vest to toughen it up. Lace-up boots, a black long-sleeve shirt and bow earrings finished off the outfit.

Oh; I almost forgot to tell you- yesterday I applied for a job at Forever 21! Forever 21 is amazing; I love their clothing and accessories to the nth degree. My fingers are crossed that I get the job. Also, while I was at Forever 21 I did a little shopping. How could I resist? I bought the cutest knit scarves, pretty knee-high socks and an adorable statement necklace. They are just begging to be worn and will be making an appearance on this blog very shortly.
