Retro Swimsuits

Hello! My sister, Missi, posed for a few photos with me today. In addition to styling my look, I also styled Missi's look. Playful summer looks from the 1950's as well as swimsuit advertisements and summer fashion editorials from the 1950's inspired our looks. Call me old-fashioned but I much prefer the shape and style of retro bathing suits (hello, high-rise bikini bottoms!) to the skimpy, string-bikinis that are ever popular in today's society. 

For this retro look, we both donned vintage bathing suits from my wardrobe. I played up the retro vibe with my vintage strapless one-piece while Missi rocked a vintage yellow bikini top. Of course, a retro look wouldn't be complete without high-rise shorts so Missi and I both grabbed our favorite pair of high-rise shorts from our closets. Her shorts are printed with a delightful floral pattern while mine are just a solid black. I slipped into a pair of simple blue sandals while Missi snatched my green flats from my wardrobe. Accessories were kept to a minimum. Missi simply wore a pair of round green shades while I wore my favorite bold sunglasses and stylish black flower crown. 

To give the photos a bit more of that 1950's beach-y look, Missi posed with a can of Coca Cola and I posed with a bottle of blue pop (purchased at World Market for just $1.50!) We headed out to a creek less than 5 minutes away from our house to take these photos.
