DIY Fashion

Grab your needle and thread, your safety pins, your glue gun or whatever and get crafty. I made a tank top over the summer by layering safety pins at the top and today for the first time, I wore it. You would not believe how much people liked it or how people were impressed that I did that. You can do the same thing by creating or reinventing a shirt, a bag, old jewelry, etc. When you wear it you will not only feel fashionable and unique, you will also feel proud of the item! So are you going to get crafty?

Hot New Trend: Lace

Personally I love lace and the sweet vibe it gives off. Currently lace is very in. The great thing about this trend is that the lace can be worn so many ways. I've seen lace in jewelry, lace in skirts, lace in sweatshirts, lace dresses, shoes covered with lace and so many other creations. You can decide to play up your girly side and pair the lace with other romantic pieces or you can rock a tougher look by adding rugged boots or a leather jacket. I, myself, tend to steer more towards the girly lace. So what do you think? Are you going to give it a try?

Old Becomes New again!

This season vintage looks have been everywhere from the runway to fashion magazines to your local high school. The use of winged eyeliner, socks with heels, modest necklines, and textured fabrics have become very chic. Think where you live that it's impossible to get anything vintage? Then you are wrong! You can shop at thrift shops, little markets, antique stores and online(esty.com is one of my favorite sites)to get a unique piece. And if you think wearing vintage is gross, don't fret there are sites online that make clothing that looks like it is vintage. Want to see these trends on paper? Look in the september issues of Lucky and Teen Vogue and the August/September issue of Justine.

Tights

Hey guys! So school has started back up and all the new trends and looks are very stylish! But my new obsession would have to be with tights! Yes, maybe you can't wear them quite yet but in a few weeks you'll be able to pull them out and add instant glamour to your style. My favorites are sky blue tights, black with black dots tights, simple plain black tights and crocheted tights. Most likely I will pair them with a simple dress and then pile on the accessories- there are soo many ways to have fun with it! So what do you think? Are you going to whip out tights any time soon?
