Out of My Kloset

 photo IMG_5260_zps29789e00.jpg

Hello! Today, I took the opportunity to wear my new silver metallic, circle skirt that Out of My Kloset recently sent me to review on my blog. This is the "Silver Metallic Leather Skirt" by Ark & Co. and it sells for $55 HERE. I am extremely pleased with this skirt. When I first ordered it, I was nervous about the fit but the medium fits perfectly. And of course, you guys know that I'm in love with the shape of this skirt. However, what really stands out about this skirt is the silver metallic color and faux leather texture of this skirt. The combination just screams "luxe."I was also impressed with the superb quality of the skirt- it even has a lining underneath the visible part of the skirt. How great is that?

I chose to style it with a sheer, maroon & black striped button down. Of course, it was too cold out to just wear that so I layered an open knit black sweater over top of it followed by a vintage camouflage jacket. I mean, how could my look be complete without a print or two? Maroon tights, black combat boots, olive-colored sunglasses and a silver bones necklace completed the look.

This silver bones necklace is actually another new addition to my wardrobe. This is the "Lovely Bones Statement Necklace" in silver. Glint & Gleam sells it on ShopLately for $14.50 with free shipping HERE. I can already tell that this necklace is going to be a popular piece in my wardrobe. I love the quirky, edginess of the piece and can envision it with a multitude of outfits.

How to Style a Crop Top in the Winter

 photo DSCF5015_zps77d4e6d0.jpg

Hello! Temperatures continue to remain low in Philadelphia (as you can tell by my red face in the photo) and I continue to layer, layer, layer. Despite the freezing temperatures, I chose to wear a crop top today. I know, I know- what was I thinking? But if worn correctly and layered with other pieces, you can still stay warm wearing a crop top!

Okay but first let me talk a little bit about this crop top. This is the "Daisies Crop Top by Jac Vanek" that retails for $49 HERE on ShopLately. Unfortunately, this top is now sold out. I guess it was a pretty hot commodity, huh? It has two daisies on the front of the shirt that you can't really see in this photo but they are beyond adorable. I can't wait to wear this top with my daisy flower crown later this year! Now onto how to wear a crop top in the freezing cold

The first step is to pair it with a pair of high-waisted bottoms like this high-waisted skirt so that minimal (if any) skin is showing. Next, I layered on a pair of fleece-lined tights followed by a simple pair of gray tights followed by a pair of black knee-high socks. This combination definitely kept my legs nice and toasty.

I then layered a cozy gray cardigan over top of the crop top followed by a nubby black and white cardigan. I added yet another layer over that with my furry leopard print coat. If this isn't the perfect combination to keep warm in the freezing cold while still wearing a crop top then I don't know what is!

Doc Martens kept my feet warm while also preventing me from slipping around dozens of times with all of the snow and ice that still covers the pathways. I accessorized with a handful of rings, a plentitude of necklaces and a stylish pair of sunglasses

Winter Wonderland

Hello! It's a winter wonderland here on campus now with inches and inches of snow dominating outside. Never before have I seen this much snow in my life! I guess that's just what comes with living in Richmond, Virginia for my whole life and now venturing up north.

The snow was also accompanied by freezing temperatures so I made sure to bundle up. I started my look with this cozy purple sweater. Definitely my warmest sweater in my closet. I layered a plain black long-sleeve top underneath of it and a black heavy winter coat over top of it. The thickness and fur collar of this coat make it the perfect coat for freezing days like today.

Today I also wore my bold leopard circle skirt. The way that the skirt just barely peeks out from underneath my oversized sweater simply has me swooning. I think that I'll be trying this oversized sweater and mini-skirt combination quite a few more times this winter. It's just too cute to resist! To ensure my warmth despite the low temperatures, I also threw on a comfy scarf and layered on two pairs of thick tights. Doc Martens and classic oversized earrings perfected my look.

Are you guys enjoying any snow that may have come your way?

Plaid and Simple

Hello! I styled my outfit today around this vintage jacket. While it may appear to be just a basic neutral-colored jacket from the outside, the inner plaid lining adds a spark of style. I decided to highlight the plaid lining by accentuating the burgundy in the plaid with a pair of burgundy Doc Martens and a simple burgundy sweater. To let the burgundy and plaid stand out, I slipped into a plain black circle skirt and black tights. I accessorized with a pair of classic tortoiseshell sunglasses, a pair of cream-colored socks and a cozy, cream-colored scarf.

Polka Dotted

Hello! Today, I pulled my green & white polka dotted dress out of my wardrobe. Looking back over my blog, I've actually never photographed my outfit when I've worn this dress but it is one of the most worn dresses in my wardrobe (only third to my black & white cat dress and black & white polka dot dress.) I purchased this dress from Urban Outfitters back in August for $60, making it the most expensive dress that I have ever purchased. But hey- it was worth it! I cannot get over the rich green color and fun polka dot print. The light-weight material of this dress also makes it the perfect dress to wear throughout the entire year and ideal for layering.

The chilly temperatures outside called for a pair of leggings to keep my legs from freezing followed by a pair of striped socks and black combat boots. I layered a black sweater over top of the dress and cozied up even more with a dark plaid scarf and leopard print coat. I accessorized with a pair of chic sunglasses and a pile of golden necklaces. The more, the merrier! I am actually wearing five separate necklaces and I love the bold, glitzy effect achieved by wearing them all together.

January 2014 Wishlist

January 2014 Wishlist

Hello! Today, I'm going to share my January 2014 wishlist with you guys. Gosh, it feels so weird saying "2014" instead of "2013." Anyway, onto my wishlist.

1. Classic black sunglasses. One can never have too many pairs of sunglasses, right?
2. Silver spiked statement necklace. I've been really into necklaces recently and love this silver spiked necklace. Talk about making a bold statement!
3. Edgy black & leopard cut-out boots. A combination of all of my favorite things- leopard print, the color black and cool detailing. There's no resisting these!
4. Neutral circle scarf. Forever loving scarves and neutrals.
5. Red plaid pinafore dress. I mean, come on. How adorable is this dress? The retro shape and classic print call my name.
6. Gray acid wash, high-rise denim. I need more jeans to keep warm this winter and have recently been longing for a pair of gray acid-wash high rise jeans.

What's on your wishlist this January?

Lips are Sealed

Hello! Today, I decided to pair two graphic prints together for a bold look. I started with a leopard print circle skirt followed by a red lip print crop top. I kept the rest of my look simple, slipping into a pair of solid black thigh-highs and black combat boots

This black long-sleeve crop top is printed with a bright red lip print. I purchased it from Forever 21 on Cyber Monday for less than $10- score! This top has stolen my heart away. I mean with the stunning cropped fit and gorgeous print, how could I resist it? I'm absolutely in love with this print and can't wait to combine it with various other prints like how I paired it with this leopard print circle skirt.

Recently, this skirt arrived in my mailbox courtesy of ShopLately. This skirt is the "Leopard Circle Skirt" sold by Out of my Kloset. It sells for $28 + shipping HERE. I ordered a size medium. As you guys probably know by this point, I have been obsessing over circle skirts for the past few months. So when I saw this skirt on ShopLately, I knew that it had to be mine. Luckily I had enough ShopLately credit left in my account to acquire this skirt. Although today is the first day that I wore this skirt, I can tell that it's going to be quite a hit in my wardrobe. The lovely leopard print and flattering shape of the skirt just scream my name.

I kept my accessories to a minimum, only donning a pair of winged sunglasses and vivid red lipstick

Hello! Today I donned my favorite dress- my black and white cat print dress. I guess you could say that I think that this dress is purrrrrr-fect. The bold graphic print and texture of the dress have me crawling back to it time and time again.

Today, I wore it as a skirt- layering a black long sleeve top and light gray cardigan over top of it. I then threw on a pair of gray tights followed by sheer black polka dot thigh-highs. This tights-sock combo has me swooning. What can I say? Neutrals and layering always manage to steal my heart.

I added even more black to my look with black winged sunglasses, a black satchel and sleek black oxfords. Amidst all of the black and gray in my look, my plum-colored scarf really popped.

To complete the look, I went a little bit crazy with my jewelry. I first slipped my tortoiseshell watch onto my wrist followed by a golden watch and bracelet. I then added multiple rings to several of my fingers and grabbed an oversized pair of cream & gold earrings for my ears. I love how the jewelry looks all layered together.

I hope that you guys are enjoying the beginning of 2014!

Hello! 2014. A year filled with promise, opportunity and goals. The possibilities for what can occur and what I can accomplish in 2014 are infinite. 2014 is a chance for a fresh start. To turn over a new leaf. And I'm planning on living 2014 to the fullest!

Today, I donned my new sweatshirt courtesy of Whimsy Tees. Who said sweatshirts can't be stylish? When I was given the chance to pick out an item from Whimsy Tees, I knew that I wanted a new sweatshirt.  So cozy! And the camera motif adds style and quirkiness to the sweatshirt. I absolutely cannot resist this sweatshirt! Although I've only had this sweatshirt for about a week, I have already worn it several times. It serves to keep me warm and looking stylish.

I paired it with a black and white polka dot circle skirt and black tights. To add a bit of color to the look, I glammed my lips up with lipstick as well as slipping into my new burgundy Doc Martens. These burgundy Doc Martens were a Christmas gift and I can already tell that I am going to get a lot of wear out of them. Now I just have to break them in!

I accessorized with black, gold-rimmed sunglasses, a golden spikes and diamond necklace and a geometric triangle necklace. Recently, I've been really into layering necklaces and this is one of my favorite necklace combinations. I just love the way that the necklaces look together!
