Breaking into the Fashion Industry

October 2015

Hello! As you guys may know, as few weeks ago, I attended Philadelphia Fashion Week. I scored a front row seat next to Cassie Hepler, founder of Explore Philly, a Philadelphia-based website. She and I chatted throughout the show about the designs and towards the end of the show, she offered me a sort of internship position with Explore Philly in which I'll be attending fashion events and writing about them for her site (don't worry, I'll still be writing about events for this blog as well!) It feels like I'm breaking more into the fashion industry as well as the field of journalism and I couldn't be any happier about it.

Yesterday evening, I ventured out for my first assignment for Explore Philly: to attend the Naveda press preview and write an article about it. I grabbed my best friend, Bri, and we set off for a night of glamour. Keep an eye on Explore Philly for my article within the next week or so.

For a fashionable night out, I decided to stick with a color palette of primarily black. I slipped into a black circle skirt paired with a black duster cardigan. I left the top button undone on the cardigan to show off a peek of gray lace. I highlighted that pop of gray by styling a gray, Vintage Etienne Aigner clutch with the look. Black thigh-high, lace-up boots made a statement. Red lipstick and a couple pieces of jewelry pulled the look together.
