$2 Vintage Beauty

March 2016

Hello! There's no better feeling than discovering a hidden vintage beauty at a thrift shop for practically pennies. So when I spotted this gorgeous, flowing black skirt at Salvation Army a few weeks ago for roughly just $2, I was ecstatic. The flowing vintage style, midi length and classic black color all make this skirt a winner.

For this look, I wanted to emphasize the sophistication and elegance of the skirt so I paired it with a vintage black lace top. I scooped this vintage black lace top up at a thrift shop several years ago and it's probably my best vintage find to date. It only cost 50 cents and I've worn it countless times. It's so unbelievably versatile and easy to style.

I added a slight hint of color to this look by slipping on my pair of green suede wedges and grabbing my vintage green clutch. Like the skirt and top I'm wearing above, this clutch was also a vintage steal. I purchased it at a large church yard sale a few years ago for less than $1. Talk about a good deal! So believe it or not, the basis of my outfit (the skirt, top and clutch) all cost less than $5 combined. I did spend a little over $150 on the wedges but hey, they were a birthday gift to myself! And I've definitely worn them enough times to justify spending so much money on them.

A retro, 50s-inspired pair of black cat-eye sunglasses gave this vintage outfit the finishing touch.
