Fall/Winter 2015 Trend: Back to the 70's

Hello! This season, the fashion of the 1970's is back with a passion and I couldn't be any happier about it.

Horrible muted neutral colors? Check! I know it's an oxymoron but these colors are so, so, so horrible and blah that they are actually wonderful. Think 1970's olive green couches and mustard yellow kitchens. It's like our favorite fall colors but dirtier if that makes sense. Take your usual fall shades of yellow, orange, green, etc. and add a pinch of brown to the color and you end up with the shades that are taking this season by storm. And I know that maybe everyone doesn't find puke-green sweaters appealing but I'm completely on board with this trend. There's nothing I love more than the fashion (and music) of the 1970's. Of course, other not-so-awful 1970's colors are also trending like the cream color of my dress above.

1970's-inspired silhouettes? Check! This season, flare jeans and bell sleeves are flying back on the shelves. I'm absolutely in love with flare denim at the moment and have seen so many fashionistas already rocking this trend back on campus. If I was a more denim type of girl, I would have stocked up on flare jeans but considering I don't own a single pair of jeans, I've decided to leave this trend alone (although, I'm still loving my other, non-denim flare and bellbottom pants.) As much as I love that the flare silhouette is trending right now, I think I may be even more in love with the bell sleeve frenzy. Take style cues this season from Stevie Nicks with this 1970's trend. I've added several pieces with bell sleeves to my wardrobe this season and don't think that I've ever loved a style of sleeve more than I love the bell sleeves. There's just something that feels so relaxed, bohemian cool about them.

I incorporated multiple aspects of the 1970's trend in my look above. The bell sleeves of the dress, soft neutral color of the dress, neutral studded wedges and lace texture of the dress are all reminiscent of the 70's. Soft waves and a deep pink lipstick played up the whimsical, 1970's fall look.
