Summer Stripes

Hello! Last week I made a trip to one of my favorite resale clothing shops in RVA, Ashby in Carytown; I was recently given an Ashby gift card at my internship and I couldn't wait to spend it. As I browsed through the racks of clothing and shelves of shoes, the stylish mix of merchandise reminded me why I love the shop so much; Ashby carries an incredible selection of brands I love for prices that college students like myself can afford. If you haven't been, you don't have to take my word for it; stop in to Ashby and see for yourself!

I purchased several dresses on my excursion to Ashby last week: a vintage watercolor floral dress, a vibrant printed dress and the striped dress that I'm wearing above. When I spotted this striped dress on the rack, I immediately fell in love. The textured fabric, flattering silhouette, low back and classic summer print all captured my heart. The dress is originally from Urban Outfitters and I scooped it up for only $18 at Ashby (similar dresses at Urban Outfitters retail for about $50-$60 so it was quite the bargain!)

The morning after my shopping trip as I was getting dressed, I immediately slipped into this striped dress; I couldn't wait to wear it. The sophistication of the dress paired with the almost nautical feeling created with the black & white stripes established the perfect canvas for a crisp, classic summer look. I styled the dress in a minimalist sort of way, abandoning the notion of slipping any jewelry on with the look and sticking to a fairly neutral color palette. A pair of nude Jeffrey Campbells, bold red sunglasses and a swipe of red lipstick were all that were needed to emphasize the beauty of this dress. And I can't wait to see how many other different ways I can style this versatile dress this summer (I can't stop dreaming of all of the different shoes that I can wear with it.)
