RoseGal: Off-the-Shoulder Beauty

August 2016

Hello! Recently, I cannot get enough of the off-the-shoulder trend. So when this fabulous striped off-the-shoulder top arrived in my mailbox from RoseGal, I was absolutely delighted. The versatile light blue and white colors, trendy silhouette and modern appeal of this off-the-shoulder top have me falling head over in heels in love with it. This is their "Preppy Bell Sleeve Blue Stripe Off The Shoulder Blouse" and it retails for just $14.57 here.

For this look, I wanted to play up the classic yet modern appeal of the top. I styled it with a little black bodycon skirt, simple gray crossbody bag and statement cat-eye sunglasses. I layered on several pieces of golden jewelry including a masculine watch, feminine bracelets, my "tori" necklace and a pretty pair of golden earrings to accentuate the look.

Seventies Denim

August 2016

Hello! Up until a couple weekends ago, it had been roughly three years since I had bought a pair of jeans. My personal style revolves primarily around pretty dresses and ridiculously high heels and a complete lack of denim. However, when I spotted this pair of flared, slightly high-rise jeans at Ashby, I knew that they just had to be mine. Ashby is a resale shop and therefore, they only have one of each item. It's been so long since I've bought jeans/pants that I actually didn't know my size and picked this pair up and brought them to the dressing room with me, crossing my fingers that they would fit me. And when I tried them on, they fit perfectly. It was destiny! These jeans were meant to change my opinion about denim. And they did. I've already worn these jeans several times since purchasing them (and can't wait to wear them more!)

For this look, I decided to really make a statement and styled the jeans with a denim off-the-shoulder top. Yes, yes and yes to denim on denim! I wanted to play off the seventies essence of the flared denim and off-the-shoulder silhouette to create a truly unique look. I styled a wooden pair of tan platform heels and a vintage tan purse with the look. I kept accessories simple, only slipping on a golden pair of shades, a few golden rings and my golden "tori" necklace. To really play up the seventies vibe, I parted my hair down the center and slipped on a neutral pink lipstick.

RoseGal

August 2016

Hello! Recently, Rosegal sent me this colorblocked crop top to showcase on my blog and I'm completely in love with it. I'm not usually a fan of crop tops but the colorblocking and almost retro American vibe of this crop top immediately captured my heart. If you're interested in purchasing this top for yourself, it retails for just $13.01 (yes, only $13!!) here.

For this look, I wanted to play up the Americana mood of the top. I styled the crop top with a versatile circle skirt. I accentuated the red in the top with a pop of red lipstick. Golden details including a vintage watch, my "tori" necklace and classic sunglasses pulled the look together.

August 2016

Hello! For the past few weeks, I've been busy preparing for my latest endeavour in the fashion industry: opening up my own Etsy shop. Recently, I decided to open my own Etsy shop specializing in vintage clothing and accessories. I'm already all over thrift shops and yard sales looking for unique vintage pieces for less all the time so I figured why not turn my passion into something more?

My Etsy shop, RaddayVintage, will launch exactly a week from now, on September 1st. I wanted to give you all a little sneak peek of everything that RaddayVintage has in stores. I've been buying the past few weeks as much as possible and I've amassed an incredible inventory of jackets, purses, belts, etc. 30-50 listings will be posted on the launch date and one new listing will be added per day throughout the month of September.

I want my vintage finds to be affordable for consumers like myself so all clothing and accessories are reasonably marked between $6-$50. I also want to provide my customers with the best service possible- I have already created handmade thank yous for all the purchases and will be packaging purchases with love (and smarties candies!)

Keep an eye on my shop's September 1st launch as I will also be hosting a contest to celebrate the launch! Starting September 1st, you can enter to win a $20 credit to RaddayVintage by sharing the shop homepage or any product page on social media. The social media platform is up to you whether it be Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, etc. All you need to do is comment somewhere whether it be on my blog or any social media outlets letting me know you shared my shop. Contest will run for 1 week and winner will be contacted through social media.

Mod & Soul

August 2016

Hello! I think I've discovered my new favorite shop in Richmond: Mod & Soul. Mod & Soul is located on Broad Street, practically across the street from Blue Bones Vintage. Mod & Soul, a fashion boutique, focuses on a blend of modern trendy and classic pieces for the sophisticated, put-together woman. If you're ever in the Richmond area, I'd highly recommend a trip to Mod & Soul!

I popped by the shop on my birthday a couple weeks ago to check it out after hearing so much positive buzz about the shop on Instagram. I was instantly impressed by the store's visually appealing interior and sophisticated atmosphere upon entering the store. Almost all of the clothing, shoes and accessories felt like they were calling out my name but there were two pieces that grabbed my heart more than any others: a classy black top and the chic dress that I'm wearing above.

The versatile print, neutral colors and fashionable silhouette all drew me to the dress above. And I can effortlessly transition the dress from work to play. For about $60, the dress is a little pricier than most of the items in my wardrobe but it was certainly worth it.

For this look, I played around with modern simplicity by styling several pieces of golden jewelry with the look. I emphasized the neckline of the dress with a short golden "Tori" necklace and a longer golden tassel necklace. Golden rings, earrings and a masculine watch all contributed to the style of this look. A simple gray purse and matching nails perfected the look.

Boho Beauty

August 2016

Hello! Recently, I scored this pretty, free-spirited dress at Ashby in Carytown for less than $20. I was immediately attracted to the breezy, bohemian silhouette, unique abstract print and muted colors. For this look, I styled a brown pair of lace-up wedges and vintage brown Coach bag with the boho dress. I kept accessories simple, sticking with only a chic golden necklace and fab Givenchy sunglasses. A swipe of purple lipstick completed the look.

Back to Black

August 2016
August 2016

Hello! Earlier this summer, my wardrobe and style inspiration was flooded with color, color, color. However, as summer slowly begins to come to an end and my anticipation for fall continues to grow, I've been feeling less inspired by color and more drawn back to black. I mean, hey you can never go wrong with black.

Keeping that sentiment in mind, I decided to style this look around a little black dress. I recently scored this vintage black velvet dress at Rumors in Richmond for less than $20- yas! The subtly sexy silhouette and rich texture make this a dress that I know I'll be wearing non-stop this upcoming fall/winter season.

For this look, I kept it pretty simple. I styled a tan-colored statement pair of heels with the look to accentuate the length of my legs (pro tip: wearing nude-colored heels will always make your legs appear longer.) I kept accessories to a minimum, only slipping on a fab pair of cat-eye sunglasses. A pop of pink lipstick kept the look from feeling too boring.

In the Details

July 2016

Hello! Throughout the past couple months, I've been trying to cut down my wardrobe so that I own less clothing, shoes and bags. I've always been interested in the concept of minimalism and I saw a documentary earlier this summer that piqued that interest even further. So off to thrift stores, consignment shops and Poshmark my unwanted clothes, shoes and accessories went.

Well, I'm delighted that I now own less but I will say it is more challenging to style new, exciting looks. Instead of relying on countless pieces of clothing in my wardrobe, I've been relying on creative jewelry styling and layering to switch up otherwise similar looks.

For this look, I pulled this green lace-up romper out of my wardrobe. I drew attention to the lace-up detailing of the romper with a couple small necklaces (although you can't see them in this shot because my hair is obstructing the view of them.) I then piled on boho bracelets and rings. I mixed several different styles together to create a truly unique look. I also slipped on a small pair of earrings and fun shades. Red lipstick and a tote matching the color of my romper pulled the look together.

Grey Sophistication

August 2016
August 2016
August 2016

Hello! I recently scooped up this charming gray jumpsuit at Ashby in Carytown, Richmond and I'm completely obsessed. From the interesting back detail to the muted colors to the versatile print, this jumpsuit has everything that I could possibly ask for in a piece of clothing.

For this look, I accentuated the sophisticated jumpsuit with golden details. I started by slipping on my favorite pair of cat-eye sunglasses. The gold detailing on these sunglasses makes them such a unique statement piece that I find myself reaching for them constantly. I then layered on several golden rings and bracelets as well as a stylish clay necklace. A black statement purse completed the look.
