Love Thy Selfie

March 2016
March 2016
March 2016

Hello! What's one of the best pieces of advice that I've received lately? "Love thy selfie" from Universitee Box. Universitee Box is a monthly subscription company that sends college-aged students stylish packages every month. In one of my recent boxes, they sent me this "love thy selfie" tee. It's an important piece of advice to keep in mind and such a cute phrase for their monthly tee. Loving yourself is one of the most important things that you can do. So take their advice and "love thy selfie"!

This tee also proves that tee shirts can be stylish. For this look, I styled the tee with a wine-colored mini skirt and nude pointy heels for a very feminine chic feel. I accessorized with my favorite pair of sunglasses and one of my Universitee Box statement necklaces.

If you feel like pampering yourself this upcoming month, head on over to Universitee Box to subscribe for a box full of goodies like my tee and necklace above.

Polka Dots

March 2016
March 2016

Hello! A couple weeks ago I purchased this black and white polka dot slip dress for roughly $20 at Ashby in Richmond and I'm pretty sure it's my new favorite dress. The stylish pattern, classic black and white colors and slip style silhouette of this dress all make it a winner in my opinion. I look forward to all of the different ways that I can style this dress (and all of the different shoes in my wardrobe that I can wear with it!)

It was slightly chilly out when I wore this outfit so I layered my cream-colored feathery sweater with the dress. I also slipped into my pair of lace-up, thigh-high boots. I accessorized with a free-spirited golden necklace, small stone necklace and cool pair of shades.

Farfetch: Spring 2016 Pantone Colors

Farfetch: Spring Pantone Colors

Hello! When I spotted the Spring 2016 Pantone colors, I immediately fell in love. The theme for the selected colors this season is "a transporting and transformative canvas." The ten cheery colors are said to "transcend cultural and gender norms." Out of the ten colors, I'm particularly fond of "rose quartz," "serenity," and "buttercup." The colors are relaxed yet inspire a sense of sophistication as well as happiness.

I've already been styling outfits around these colors in my head so when Farfetch reached out to me and asked if I'd like to participate in a blogger challenge featuring the Spring 2016 Pantone colors, I jumped right on the opportunity. My challenge was to style an outfit featuring a few of the Spring 2016 Pantone colors with Farfetch merchandise.

For the outfit, I selected my three Spring 2016 Pantone favorites: "rose quartz", a romantic light pink color, "serenity", a soothing shade of blue, and "buttercup", a lively burst of yellow. These colors all emit a mood that feels distinctly spring and remind me of the blossoming flowers around us outside. Keeping these colors and Farfetch's designer merchandise in mind, I was inspired to create a whimsical yet sophisticated outfit (featured above.) This outfit could take me from a lunch date to an interview to class.

I've been drawn to shades of pink recently so I decided to focus on "rose quartz" for the basis of the outfit. While browsing Farfetch, I fell in love with this feminine Halston Heritage skater dress. Of course, spring sometimes requires a light jacket over a dress like this one so I layered up on the "rose quartz" pink and styled the dress with this classic Theory blazer.

I wanted to incorporate a multi-color piece with this look to pull together the Spring 2016 Pantone colors that I selected for this outfit. When I stumbled upon these quirky Sophia Webster "Riko" mules, I knew that I had found the piece that would tie my several selected colors together. The various pops of pastel colors including "buttercup" yellow in the shoes would allow me to effortlessly style a "buttercup" yellow Dolce & Gabbana daisy necklace and sophisticated Saint Laurent handbag in "serenity" blue with the look.

Peruvian Connection

March 2016
March 2016

Hello! This past week, I was home in Richmond for spring break and filled much of my time browsing through all the wonderful thrift and consignment shops that RVA has to offer. With a limited student budget, I don't have much money to spend on fashion but try to keep my wardrobe updated with new pieces. To do so, second-hand shopping becomes my savior.

While at home, I dropped by several Goodwill stores (shout-out to Richmond for being ever plentiful in thrift shops) and found a couple steals including the dress that I'm wearing above. The second that I spotted this rich marble printed dress on the racks of Goodwill, I fell in love. And to my delight, the dress fit like a charm when I slipped it on in the dressing room. For $7, I knew that I couldn't go wrong with purchasing it. As you can tell from the photos, the dress is in wonderful condition and looks like it's been worn less than a handful of times.

At the time of purchasing the dress, I wasn't familiar with the brand, Peruvian Connection. However, my curiosity was piqued as the dress had a sort of luxurious feeling to it (and wow, it's incredibly soft!) I did a quick Google search and discovered that Peruvian Connection sells "artisan apparel for nomads and romantics." Swoon! And I discovered that their maxi dresses sell for between $80-$280 so for just $7 at Goodwill, this was quite the steal.

For this outfit, I wanted to create a sense of sophistication to highlight the cultivated style of the dress. To do so, I styled the dress with a pair of pointy nude heels, a classic clutch and simple golden jewelry. I slipped on a romantic pair of Vera Wang sunglasses and a swipe of red lipstick to perfect the look.

Express Spring/Summer 2016 Swimwear

March 2016

Hello! Recently, Express sent me a swimsuit from their new swimwear collection and I'm loving it; I was just in Richmond for spring break and it was perfect to wear by the James River. They sent me their "Black Macrame Back Bralette Swim Top" which retails for about $40 and their "Black Macrame Bikini Swim Bottom" which retails for about $30. What I'm loving about this swimsuit is how subtly stylish it is. From the macrame, 70s-inspired detailing to the simple silhouette, I'm in love and I can tell that I'll be wearing this swimsuit out by the river a lot more this spring/summer.

However, this swimsuit isn't the only suit that caught my eye in Express' recent swimwear collection. They offer a variety of different womens swimsuits from more boho to trendy to classic. Their selection of womens bikinis includes prints, solids, high-rise styles, low-rise styles, high-neck styles and so on and so forth, proving that they have something for everyone. They also offer a few one-piece options like THIS ONE that I'm completely head-over-heels in love with.

Another thing that's great about Express' swimwear is that you're able to buy your swimsuit in separates. So if you're feeling like switching it up and pairing a solid-colored top with a printed pair of bottoms, you can go for it! It also makes finding the perfect fit much easier. Personally, I almost always take a size large bikini top but never a size large bottom so I was happy to be able to select pieces in different sizes for the best fit.

If you're in the market for a new swimsuit, I'd recommend checking out Express' selection first. Vibrant colors, unique silhouettes, interesting details- who could resist?

Spring Fever

March 2016
March 2016

Hello! Is there anything better than waking up to sunny skies and warm weather? Spring has officially sprung and I couldn't be any happier about it. And of course, I'm celebrating the beginning of the spring season by breaking out all my floral-printed pieces in my wardrobe including this vibrant, floral dress.

Besides loving the bold floral print of this dress, I absolutely adore the breezy silhouette, accordion sleeves and vivid colors of this dress. For this look, I grabbed my golden sunglasses and also layered several pieces of golden jewelry with the dress. First, I slipped on a turquoise stone necklace followed by a turquoise ring.

I decided to take a bolder route with my bracelets, donning four different bracelets. I started with a purple druzy bracelet as the statement bracelet. Then, I slipped on three other golden bracelets that complemented the druzy bracelet.

I recently received the two golden bracelets in the middle in my latest Universitee Box and am completely in love with them. They're so versatile and I love them so much that I practically can't take them off!

I also wore another one of my newer bracelets- a crisscross bracelet from Rocksbox. For those of you who aren't familiar with Rocksbox, they're a monthly jewelry subscription retailer. They offer monthly subscriptions for $19 for three pieces of jewelry each month. You do have to return the pieces each month (unless you decide to buy them) so it's almost like renting jewelry but I love the idea! It's easy to get bored of your jewelry after a month of wearing it and it's cool to swap out the pieces each month. If you sign up with code toriraddayxoxo, you can get your first month free! I'd definitely recommend trying it out and hey, if you aren't in love with it, you can always cancel after your first month and have no financial loss.

Ashby

March 2016
March 2016
March 2016

Hello! Being back in Richmond for spring break means shopping- and a lot of it! But I am a broke college student after all and so all my shopping over spring break has been primarily at thrift and consignment shops so far. However, I tend to prefer shopping at thrift/consignment shops much more than just at fast fashion retailers in the mall. There are so many issues with fast fashion- from environmental problems caused by the immense waste created through fast fashion to the fact that fast fashion supports unethical working conditions. These issues are not as prominent in secondhand shops. Shopping at thrift shops/consignment shops also allows me to add more unique pieces to my wardrobe and not break the bank.

One of my first shopping stops when I got back to Richmond was at Ashby in Carytown. I know that I've raved about Ashby before but I seriously cannot get over my love for that store. They sell and buy stylish gently worn clothing, accessories and shoes. I actually don't know what I would do without Ashby. I love selling my clothes and getting store credit back to instantly boost my wardrobe. I've actually stopped by the store almost every day that I've been back, I can't get enough of it. I also love how quickly their merchandise moves; you can go in everyday and still find something new.

On one of my recent visits, I purchased both this black jumpsuit and these black cat-eye sunglasses. I'm obsessed with them both and can't wait to wear them throughout this season. The open-back, simple silhouette and versatile black color of the jumpsuit immediately drew me in and of course, how could I resist such a hot pair of 1950's-inspired sunglasses? The jumpsuit cost less than $15 and the sunglasses cost about $10- not a bad deal!

For this look, I styled the jumpsuit with the cat-eye sunglasses as well as with a major statement necklace, bold red lipstick and green suede wedges.

If you live in Richmond or near Richmond, I would suggest a shopping trip to Ashby. You won't be disappointed by their selection of stylish, affordable merchandise. Ashby is located at 3010 West Cary St in Carytown, right next to Mellow Mushroom.

What I'm Obsessing Over Right Now: Poshmark

March 2016

Hello! I signed up with Poshmark about a month ago and I'm totally obsessing over it right now. I know that Poshmark has been around for a while and I may be a little bit late to the Poshmark party but I'm just glad I finally arrived! For those of you who are unfamiliar with Poshmark, Poshmark is an app on your phone that allows you to sell and buy gently used clothing, shoes and accessories. It's sort of like a great online consignment shop.

I originally joined Poshmark with the intention of solely selling clothing and accessories that I no longer was in love with to make a little bit of extra cash for spring break. In my first two weeks as a seller on Poshmark, I easily made $50- all for clothing/accessories that were sitting in my wardrobe gathering dust! What I love about Poshmark especially is that it makes selling your clothing/shoes/accessories SO unbelievably easy. In fact, they even create a pre-paid shipping label for your sales! I'm excited to continue selling on Poshmark and if you like my style and want to shop my "closet", you can check me out @toriradday

Of course, I couldn't help but get roped into the whole Poshmark community of not only selling but buying and "sharing" other listings. I've been watching the "Jeffrey Campbell" section of the app like a hawk. I absolutely love Jeffrey Campbell shoes but for budgetary reasons cannot afford to buy all the Jeffrey Campbells that I dream of. When I spotted the Jeffrey Campbell clogs above, I knew that they had to be mine. For only $15, I immediately purchased them.

An app that allows you to make a little extra cash by selling your old clothing/accessories/shoes and let's you score incredible deals like the $15 Jeffrey Campbells above? Count me in! If you want to sign up for your own Poshmark account, use code JXTJA and you'll automatically get a $10 Poshmark credit (which would have been almost enough to score the Jeffrey Campbells like I did above!)

Stop and Appreciate the Sunflowers

March 2016
March 2016

Hello! I've been trying to shop less and less at fast fashion retailers (due to the environmental impact and unethical labor implications among other more superficial reasons) but I recently dropped by Forever 21 and couldn't resist purchasing this cute sunflower-printed dress. And for just $15, it was quite the steal! The vibrant print, flattering silhouette and bold colors of the dress make it my idea of the perfect spring sundress.  I can already tell that I'll be getting a lot of wear out of this dress this season.

For this look, I kept it simple by pairing the dress with a pair of boho wedges and a green suede clutch. I chose to style the dress with these two pieces because the brown color of the wedges and the green color of the clutch complemented the colors in the print of the dress perfectly. I accessorized with a handful of golden bracelets, a couple golden rings and a pair of golden sunglasses.

What I'm Loving Right Now: the Pineapple Motif Trend

March 2016

Hello! One of my favorite trends for this spring/summer season would definitely be the pineapple print/motif trend. The playful, quirky nature of the trend exemplifies my free-spirited, quirky style. Recently, I scooped up this pineapple-printed dress at Forever 21 to try out the trend myself this season. I scored this dress for under $15- an incredible deal! Besides the cute pineapple print, I adore the breezy silhouette of this dress.

For this look, I kept the emphasis of the outfit on the playful pineapple print dress. I paired it with an easygoing pair of black wedges and too-cool-for-school shades. I accessorized with a couple golden bracelets, my golden "Tori" necklace and a golden embellished bag.

Bright Orange

March 2016
March 2016

Hello! It's not often that I wear bright orange but when the weather perked up earlier this week, I had to celebrate the warmer weather with something that screamed "spring" and this dress immediately came to mind. This is by far the brightest dress that I currently own and probably the brightest dress that I have ever owned/will ever own.

For this look, I accentuated the orange color of the dress with a pair of strappy orange wedges and an orange statement necklace. I paired my golden "Tori" necklace with the orange statement necklace for a bolder statement. I swiped a deep shade of red lipstick on my lips to contrast with the color of my dress. My cream-colored, feathery sweater pulled this look together.

Florals for Spring?

February 2016

Hello! While florals for spring may not be groundbreaking (cue an irritated-looking image of Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada), I can't help but to be drawn to florals in the spring. As flowers blossom all around me, I'm attracted to incorporating that element of nature into my wardrobe. As spring slowly (almost impossibly slowly) encroaches upon us, I've begun incorporating floral patterns into my wardrobe again.

For this outfit, I pulled a sixties-inspired, mod floral dress out of my wardrobe. The retro-inspired print, rich warm colors and breezy silhouette make it one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. Well worth the $60 I spent on it at Urban Outfitters this past fall! If you know me, I hardly pay more than $20 for anything in my wardrobe so $60 for a dress was quite a splurge- but definitely a good investment.

As much as I'm ready for spring, it's not quite spring yet and still chilly so I layered a vintage Boy Scouts jacket over my floral print dress. I love the juxtaposition of the masculine, utilitarian nature of the jacket with the flirty femininity of the dress. The combination of the olive color of the jacket with the lavender color of the dress contributes to the unique sixties feeling of the look.

Playing off the interesting color combination of this outfit, I slipped on a couple multi-color stone bracelets and interesting vintage golden rings. I also slipped on a couple golden necklaces for major style impact. Freshly painted, light purple-colored nails matching my dress and a bright pink pop of lipstick pulled the look together.

Universitee Box: February 2016

March 2016
March 2016

Hello! Is there anything better than being sent a box full of goodies including jewelry every month? Nope, I didn't think so! That's why I love Universitee Box. Universitee Box recently took me on as an Influencer and last week, I received my second complimentary box from them. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Universitee box, they provide subscribers with monthly boxes full of goodies from inspirational cards to a cute tee to statement jewelry. There are 3 subscription options available: the "bauble" box, the "duo" box and the "alumna" box. The "bauble" box costs about $17/month and contains an affirmation card and 1-3 pieces of jewelry. The "duo" box costs about $29/month and contains an affirmation card, a tee shirt and 1-3 pieces of jewelry. The "alumna" box costs about $35/month and contains an affirmation card, a lifestyle item, a tee shirt and 1-3 pieces of jewelry.

This month, I received a "Love Thy Selfie" tee, an affirmation card and several pieces of statement jewelry in my box. Getting my package from Universitee Box immediately made my day and if you're looking to pamper yourself, I'd recommend signing up for a monthly subscription with Universitee Box. When I opened this month's box and saw the gorgeous statement necklace, I couldn't resist putting it on right away. And I have worn it practically every other day since I've received it. In fact, I'm wearing it in the photos featured above.

For this look, I styled the black stone statement necklace that I received in my Universitee Box with a golden personalized name necklace as well as another smaller stone necklace. I styled the jewelry with a deep plum-colored corduroy dress and cream-colored, feathery sweater. I slipped on a pair of colorblocked thigh-high socks and black booties with the look. I kept the rest of my accessories to a minimum and just slipped on a pair of golden sunglasses to accentuate the golden tones of my necklaces.

[Im]patiently Waiting for Spring

March 2016
March 2016

Hello! Will it ever feel like spring? As much as I love my faux fur coats to death, I'm ready to put them away until next winter. Same thing goes with my fleece-lined tights. When will I just be able to rock a sundress with wedges and be fine? My spring break starts this Thursday and I'm hoping that spring break will usher in more spring-like weather.

These photos were taken about a week ago and about a week ago, it certainly did not feel like spring. For this look, I pulled out a little black dress that hinted at spring with its brightly embroidered details but layered it with a couple other items to make it more weather-appropriate. I cozied up in a big faux fur coat and velvet patterned tights to stay warm. With this outfit, I really wanted to focus on the eclectic bohemian vibe that was created by pairing such a major statement fur coat with a seventies-inspired little black dress.

To enhance that free-spirited mood, I layered boho necklaces upon necklaces upon necklaces. I paired several golden, crystal pendant necklaces together as well as my go-to circular golden necklace. I kept the rest of my accessories to a minimum to let my layered necklaces steal the show.

Spring Must-Have: Skater Dresses

FashionMia: Skater Dresses

Hello! What's one of my spring must-have essentials this season? Skater dresses! There's almost nothing more flattering than a skater dress. It nips your waist in at the smallest point, making you appear thinner, while the flared skirt adds volume that flatters your legs. Skater dresses are also incredibly versatile; you can dress one up for date night or dress it down for a regular day.

However, sometimes finding the perfect sexy skater dress can be a struggle. And that's where FashionMia comes in. If you haven't heard of FashionMia before, FashionMia is an online fashion retailer specializing in trendy women's clothing and accessories. And boy do they have plenty of skater dresses to choose from! Read on for my picks from FashionMia:

1. Printed Lovely Round Neck Skater Dress $26.55. So modern!

2. Floral Printed Vintage Elegant Sweetheart Skater Dress $21.80. How adorable is the daisy print of this dress? So perfect for spring!

3. Embroidery Charming Round Neck Skater Dress $23.70. This may be the most charming skater dress I've ever encountered. I love the playful butterfly print on the sophisticated, feminine dress.

4. V-Neck Lace Green Vintage Skater-Dress $22.75. I was immediately drawn to the brilliant green color of this dress. You're certain to turn heads wearing this bold beauty.

5. Pleat Backless Delightful Crew Neck Skater Dress $33.20. The structured silhouette and versatile black color of this dress make it the ideal skater dress. Who doesn't need another little black dress in their closet?

March 2016 Mood Board

March Mood Board

Hello! I can't even express how happy I am that it's finally March. March indicates warmer weather and spring break. And oh, I can't wait for spring break! I leave Philadelphia for spring break in about a week and am counting down the days. My professors have currently loaded me up with assignment upon assignment and it feels like I've spent more time doing schoolwork this past week than I have the entire semester. My stress level is at an all time high and I'm looking forward to relaxing for a week.

Anyways, today I wanted to share my March 2016 inspiration with you all. I'm looking towards bold colors, sixties styles and psychedelics prints this month for fashion inspiration. Be prepared to see less black clothing and more pops of color in my outfits in the upcoming weeks.
