Tropical Infusion

January 2016

Hello! Does anyone else feel like this winter seems more unpleasant than usual? Maybe it's the freezing temperatures or scattering of dirty snow that's still on the ground but I can't stand this winter. For this look, I slipped on a tropical floral printed dress in hopes of urging spring to come more quickly. However, it's clearly not spring yet so I layered a mega black and white faux fur coat over the dress. I like the way that the prints and colors of the dress and coat contrast in a way that complements the combination.

Wearing Princessy Pink...Again?

January 2016

Hello! I can't get enough of this dress. And I still can't get over how much I love it despite the fact that it's such a princessy, ballerina pink. I usually avoid any and everything pink (unlike my mom who just started a blog about decorating a vintage trailer...entirely in pink) so it's unusual that I'm so drawn to this dress. The pale color, unique texture and classic silhouette of this dress create a very delicate, feminine appeal. For just about $10, this dress is probably one of the best buys in my wardrobe in a while; this dress has become my go-to when I can't figure out what to wear.

For this look, I styled the dress with a big leopard print faux fur coat to combat the cold. I also slipped on a pair of fleece-lined tights to keep the wind from blowing the cold right through me. Fleece-lined tights are an absolute life-saver in this freezing weather that we've been having and I'm lucky to have multiple pairs in my wardrobe. Whenever it's cold out and I'm wearing tights, people tend to look at me like I'm crazy but I swear fleece-lined tights or leggings keep me just as warm as a pair of pants would. To finish this look, I donned a pair of heeled, lace-up booties, a few pieces of delicate golden jewelry and a rad pair of golden sunglasses.

Hope you guys are all staying warm!

Sophisticated Classic

January 2016
January 2016

Hello! As winter progresses, I'm drawn to wearing more and more black. The days seem bleaker and when I wake up at 7am and hear the wind whistling outside my window, trying to throw together anything other than an outfit revolving around black feels mildly painful. These photos were taken a couple weeks ago while I was still in Richmond and it wasn't quite as cold. I wouldn't dare step outside simply wearing this feathery sweater today, it's freezing here!

For this look, I styled my outfit around this classic black romper. I purchased this romper from Express earlier this season and I've fallen head over in heels in love with it. It's such a sophisticated piece and I adore the lace detailing. While many people don't view rompers as an ideal piece for winter, rompers can easily be styled to face chilly weather. To keep cozy in this look, I slipped on a pair of black velvet-printed tights under the romper. Not only does the velvet overlay on these tights add style to them but also makes them slightly warmer than regular tights.

I wasn't really feeling color so I reached for a few neutral pieces to complete this look. To add texture and warmth to the look, I slipped on a tan, chunky knit infinity scarf and a cream-colored feathery sweater. I accentuated the color of the scarf by styling my nude Jeffrey Campbell heels with the outfit. I grabbed a pair of movie star sunglasses to complete the sophisticated, classic look.

February 2016 Moodboard

February 2016 Mood Board

Hello! Wow! Can you believe it's almost February? January seems to have just flown by! Today, I wanted to share my February 2016 moodboard with you all. February signifies the last month of winter. Which means a lot of bundling up and staying cozy inside which is why I included faux fur as well as luxe throws in my mood board. February also marks the month of Valentine's day. With love in the air, I've included delicate lace lingerie, deep lipstick, roses and romantic candles in my mood board as well. Here's to a pleasant February filled with plenty of love (and even more lace and neutral colors)!

Anjolee

January 2016

January 2016

Hello! Wow, has it been cold here in Philadelphia! Cold enough even to break out my only pair of denim. For this look, it was all about warmth so that meant lots of layering. I wanted to focus on textures while I was layering this look to avoid looking bulky. First, I slipped on a seventies-inspired paisley top. The psychedelic print, cool colors and lace detailing of this shirt make it one of my favorite (one of my only?) shirts.  The semi-sheer fabric of this shirt is definitely more suited for the summer but worked perfect with layering for this outfit. I slipped on a cream-colored feathery sweater over the top followed by a cozy, faux suede jacket. This jacket has captured my heart because not only is it faux suede but the inside has a sort of shearling texture. Swoon!

I decided to steer away from my typical golden accessories and play around with silver. I started by slipping into these silver metallic booties. While my feet definitely were cold without socks, I couldn't resist how much I loved this look with a little bit of skin showing, even if it was just my ankles. I also styled a delicate little silver ring and necklace with this outfit.

Recently, Anjolee sent me this necklace to showcase on my blog. For those of you who aren't familiar with Anjolee, Anjolee is an online retailer specializing in high-quality, custom-made fine jewelry. When Anjolee reached out to me to see if I would be interested in working together, I was thrilled! I decided to go with the "Three Stone Horizontal Diamond Pendant." While my necklace wasn't made from real gold or diamonds, Anjolee substituted CZs, silver and amethysts.

Due to shipping related issues and the fact that the necklace was a custom piece, it did take roughly three months to receive my necklace. But I'm absolutely in love with it! There's a very dainty delicacy to the necklace that's so different than the other pieces of jewelry I own. The stones are breath-taking and it's very high-quality. I'm immensely pleased with this necklace and if you're in the search for a diamond necklace or other piece of fine jewelry, I would recommend checking Anjolee out.

Jumping for this Jumpsuit

January 2016

January 2016

Hello! Never in a million years would I have thought that I would be able to pull off a jumpsuit. Now, that's not to say that I don't like jumpsuits, I actually can't help but love jumpsuits. Jumpsuits have been trending the past few years and I've spotted a few that captured my heart entirely. That is they captured my heart until I tried them on. Every single jumpsuit (with the exception of the one that I'm wearing above) that I've tried on in the past few years has looked like an absolute disaster on my body. I'm relatively tall and busty and it makes fitting into a jumpsuit difficult.

I had given up on the thought of finding a jumpsuit that fit me until I spotted this watercolor blue jumpsuit at Ashby. It was a size medium from Forever 21 and I'm almost always a size large at Forever 21 so I didn't think that it would actually fit but I tried it on on a whim anyways. When I tried it on, it actually did fit and I fell in love. The watercolor print, cool blue colors and modern silhouette of this jumpsuit make it one of my favorite pieces currently in my wardrobe.

I shot these photos a couple weeks ago when it wasn't quite as cold and I was able to style a pair of vintage platform sandals with the jumpsuit and ditch any layers over the jumpsuit. I wanted to go for a sort of sea-inspired look to play up the marine colors and print of the jumpsuit so I paired it with an ocean-inspired statement necklace. To complete the look, I styled a green vintage clutch and golden sunglasses with the outfit.

Quirky Vintage Buttons

January 2016
January 2016

Hello! Do you ever have an accessory or other item in your wardrobe that you love so much that you can't help but style your whole outfit around it? I did just that with this look! I've had these quirky vintage buttons forever but haven't worn them in ages and decided it was time for them to come out of hiding again! I selected these three playful pins from my jewelry selection based on their whimsical appeal, graphic design and bold colors.

Originally, I was just going to style my look around this "try kissing instead of smoking" pin but I decided that it looked lonely by itself so I paired it with a "wasted" smiley button and "dressed to kill" button. As a side note, shout out to my mom for this rad "kissing instead of smoking" button. I received the smiley face button with an order years ago at ShopWasteland and scooped up the "dressed to kill" button at Anthill Antiques in Richmond, Va (if you're ever in RVA, you should definitely check the shop out!!)

I decided that I really wanted to let the buttons shine so I paired them with a basic black dress, black thigh-high socks and black heeled booties. I didn't want the buttons to have to compete with any small-scale prints or colors for attention. I decided to emphasize the "kissing instead of smoking" button by highlighting the red colors in the button with a red bandana neck scarf and a bold red lipstick.

Of course I would have been freezing without a coat so I decided to pair this bold, black and white faux fur coat with the outfit. This Cruella De Vil-esque coat gives off the same sort of rad nineties soft grunge vibe that the buttons do. A classic pair of black shades complemented the outfit.

Just Peachy

January 2016
January 2016

Hello! As I'm typing this, it's currently 17 degrees here in Philadelphia and I'm shivering in a massive faux fur coat. I took these photos a couple weeks ago while I was still in Richmond and I'm yearning to go back to when it was still nice enough outside that I didn't have to layer up and don fleece-lined tights everyday. For this look, I pulled a peachy dress out of my wardrobe; the cheerful color, ornate lace texture and feminine silhouette of this dress make it a favorite in my wardrobe. I styled it with a cream-colored, feathery sweater, nude heels, delicate golden jewelry and a vintage purse for a vintage-inspired, feminine look.

Faux Fur Trimmed Jacket

December 2015
December 2015
December 2015

Hello! When in doubt of what to wear, I say go with all black. All black portrays such a classic, fashion-forward mood. Another thing I love about wearing all black is that you can play around with different accessories to shape the look. For example, I could have worn this black tank with these black jeans but styled my accessories differently and achieved an entirely different look. For this look, I was going for a sort of sophisticated, sort of French-American look. To attain that look, I paired a bandana neck scarf, red lipstick and a faux fur-trimmed coat with my outfit. I also slipped into a pair of gray booties and grabbed an oversize black tote bag.

Hello Philadelphia

January 2016
January 2016

Hello! A few days ago, I arrived in Philadelphia to finish up my last semester at Philadelphia University. It's wild to think that this'll be my last semester here, as I graduate in May, but I'm excited to knock this semester out of the park and move on to bigger and better things as soon as I graduate. Like last semester, I'm taking a course overload for a total of seven classes in addition to a gym credit. I'm also still writing for this blog, The Odyssey and Explore Philly as well as tackling an internship with College Fashionista. I'll also still be working at my school for a few hours a week. I have a feeling that this semester will be another one bustling with activity but I'm looking forward to it.

What I'm not looking forward to is the windy, freezing cold weather that will consume Philadelphia for the next few weeks. While I was in Richmond, the winter weather was mild and I didn't have to worry about layering and layering to stay cozy nor did I wake up listening to the wind whistle outside my window. I mean hey, when I arrived in Philadelphia there was even a scattering of snow on the ground. And I'm definitely not ready for that.

For this look, I donned my furry leopard print coat to combat the cold. I wanted to let the coat shine so I paired it with a basic, black tee, black circle skirt and black opaque tights. I added a slight pop of color by donning a pair of vintage DKNY, dark green Chelsea booties and an olive-colored bandana worn as a neck scarf. I threw on a pair of black classic sunglasses and grabbed my black tote bag and set off for my first day of classes.

Radday Sisters

December 2015

Hello! A couple weeks ago, Missi, my sister, and I shot outfit photos together before she headed back to Lynchburg for school. It was pretty chilly outside so we both made sure to layer, layer, layer! For Missi's look, she pulled a bohemian printed romper out of her wardrobe. The silhouette of the romper is definitely more suited for warm weather but if layered right, can be also great for chillier weather. She layered a soft knit sweater and a shaggy faux fur vest over the romper. The colors all complement each other well and the combination of textures creates an interesting textural appeal to the look. She finished the look with a pair of opaque black tights, black combat boots and a simple silver necklace.

For my look, I also pulled out a faux fur piece from my wardrobe to stay warm- this magnificent black and white coat. It's so over-the-top, so glamorous and I love it tremendously. I decided to play around with prints and textures and donned a porcelain print dress under the striped faux fur coat. I added another print and texture with a pair of velvet textured, printed tights. I added a slight pop of dark green to the look by rocking a green bandana neck scarf and too-cool-for-school Chelsea boots. Statement shades pulled the look together.

January 2016

Hello! I've been practically living in this cream-colored, feather-y sweater the past couple weeks. The feather-y texture of this sweater is unlike anything I've ever owned before and I can't get over it. It's absolutely breath-taking and so, so, so versatile; it's pretty much the perfect sweater to throw on over any look. For this simple, classic look, I paired it with a little black dress and a pair of opaque black tights. I added a sort of witchy-boho feel to this look by throwing my hair half up into a messy bun, slipping on a dark shade of lipstick and donning this golden moon necklace. Several other pieces of golden jewelry and a dark green pair of Chelsea booties completed the look.

Cruella De Vil

December 2015
December 2015
December 2015

Hello! Earlier in November, I spotted this coat on the racks of Forever 21 and was immediately drawn to it. It's over-the-top, magnificently luxe and makes quite the statement. The alternating black and white colors of the coat also contribute to a sort of Cruella De Vil feel. And we all know that Cruella De Vil is the queen of fur coats. While I don't approve of real fur like Cruella De Vil, I do sort of feel like the queen of faux fur. So when I saw that this coat cost roughly $90 in November,  my heart was practically crying when I realized that I wouldn't be able to add this beauty to my wardrobe. Now, imagine my delight when I popped by Forever 21 a couple weeks ago and this coat had gone on sale for 50% off. Of course, I had to have it! And I'm so happy to have added it to my wardrobe. I've already worn it a couple times and am loving it.

For this look, I layered the coat over a simple, black long-sleeve top and deep green circle skirt. The coat makes such a statement by itself that it doesn't need to be styled with a statement dress or a lot of accessories or prints. It's the perfect coat to make a simple outfit go from blah to wow in just seconds. However, for this look, I chose to add little more glamour with a silver statement necklace, bold red lipstick and lace-up, thigh-high boots.

I can't wait to see all of the different ways that I'll be able to style this coat; stayed tuned for more in the upcoming weeks!

Pretty in Pink

December 2015
December 2015
December 2015

Hello! Look who's wearing princess-y pink again; I typically shy away from pink but have been in love with this dress from the second that I spotted in in Ashby. Although I fell in love with it upon first sight and immediately purchased it, I doubted how much I would actually wear it. But for just $10, I couldn't turn it down. However, this is my second time wearing this dress within the matter of just a few weeks and I feel as though this dress will become one of the more frequently worn dresses in my wardrobe. There's just something about the princess-y pink color and sort of ballerina vibe of this dress that I can't help but love.

For this look, I played up the sort of prissy, princess-y feel of the dress by pairing it with a pair of velvet printed tights and a cream-colored, feather-y sweater. I accessorized with delicate golden jewelry including my beloved golden "Tori" necklace. Black heeled booties pulled the look together.

Milkmaid Braid

December 2015
December 2015

Hello! For the past few months, I've been trying to use little to no heat on my hair. I've seen my hair return to a sort of "happy" state; it's almost as if my hair has returned to its natural hair texture yet better. I've also noticed that it's a lot healthier and seems to be growing more quickly. On the downside, I do still have bad hair days when I just want to pick up my curling iron to fix it. However, on days like that, when my hair isn't behaving, I try to fix it by not using heat but rather throwing it up into a braided hairstyle. For this look, I threw my unruly hair up into a boho milkmaid braid. This hairstyle may look tricky but it's actually very easy. All you have to do is braid two side braids and pin those side braids up onto the top of your head with a few bobby pins.

The milkmaid braid that I threw my hair up into had a sort of effortless, boho vibe so I decided to style my outfit around that. I started my look with a free-spirited, printed pair of pants. The floral print and flare style of the pants contribute to the sort of hippie, 70s feel. I also played around with textures by styling a delicate lace top, luxe faux fur vest and chunky knit shawl with the look. Flatforms and a stack of crystal necklaces added the final bohemian touches to the outfit.

Winter Floral

December 2015

Hello! So far this winter has been unusually warm (at least in Richmond) but hey, I'm not complaining. For this look, I pulled out a richly printed floral dress from my wardrobe. The deep colors, mod floral print and breezy silhouette of this dress make it one of my favorite dresses. I cozied it up with a burgundy knit scarf; I love the way that the burgundy color of the scarf accentuates the warm colors in the dress. I played around with prints and paired a printed pair of tights with the dress. A chic pair of heeled gray booties pulled the look together.

Happy New Year!

December 2015

Hello! Happy New Year! 2015 flew by and I'm excited to see what 2016 has in store. My general resolution for this year is to do things that are better for me. It's a very vague, broad sort of resolution but I find it easier to follow because it doesn't feel like I'm restricting myself but rather working on improving myself. The resolution could cover eating healthier as well as surrounding myself with more positivity. I'm determined to make 2016 my year. This upcoming May, I'll graduate from Philadelphia University with a degree in fashion merchandising so I predict that this year will be filled with lots of activity, change and excitement.

Here's to 2016 also being a year filled with plenty of stylish outfits! For this look, I pulled a chic burnt orange dress out of my wardrobe. I accentuated the rich color of the dress with a bohemian pair of thigh-highs and free-spirited crystal necklaces. A cream-colored feather-y sweater, swipe of lipstick and chelsea booties added to the boho vibe of the look.
