Milkmaid Braid

December 2015
December 2015

Hello! For the past few months, I've been trying to use little to no heat on my hair. I've seen my hair return to a sort of "happy" state; it's almost as if my hair has returned to its natural hair texture yet better. I've also noticed that it's a lot healthier and seems to be growing more quickly. On the downside, I do still have bad hair days when I just want to pick up my curling iron to fix it. However, on days like that, when my hair isn't behaving, I try to fix it by not using heat but rather throwing it up into a braided hairstyle. For this look, I threw my unruly hair up into a boho milkmaid braid. This hairstyle may look tricky but it's actually very easy. All you have to do is braid two side braids and pin those side braids up onto the top of your head with a few bobby pins.

The milkmaid braid that I threw my hair up into had a sort of effortless, boho vibe so I decided to style my outfit around that. I started my look with a free-spirited, printed pair of pants. The floral print and flare style of the pants contribute to the sort of hippie, 70s feel. I also played around with textures by styling a delicate lace top, luxe faux fur vest and chunky knit shawl with the look. Flatforms and a stack of crystal necklaces added the final bohemian touches to the outfit.
