Saturdays are for Shopping

Hi! I love Saturdays because I often go thrift shopping. This month, I was planning on not spending any money on myself but I went out shopping today. Oops! However, I made out very well and only spent $4.20 on myself. Hope Thrift was a goldmine for bohemian dresses today and I ended up purchasing 3 dresses. All need a little tweaking but it's worth it. I also ended up with a cream colored skirt and a matching lace top. Of course, I will wear them separately. For my etsy shop, I purchased 4 pairs of jeans at Hope Thrift and 2 pairs of jeans at Thrift for Life. Later, my family went out to eat at Don Pedro, a little Mexican restaurant. The food was scrumptious and that is where these pictures were taken. Anyone else go out shopping or do something interesting today?

DIY Fishtail Skirt

Hi! This weekend I was in the mood for a DIY and stumbled across this tutorial on chictopia for a fishtail skirt. One of my maxi skirts had become a tad too short and I decided that it would be perfect for this DIY. It was extremely simple and I had it done in less than a half hour. Even though I didn't really follow the instructions, the skirt turned out great. If you have an old maxi skirt, I would definitely recommend trying this trendy DIY!

Mix It Up

Hi! Today I decided to mix formal and casual clothing together. I recently received this beaded top- perfect for special events. To make it wearable for everyday occasions, I added a simple, bohemian mini-skirt and a studded denim vest. I was very pleased with the results and can't to mix casual and formal pieces again! Anyways, I have to run- off to another SAT prep session!

Winter Wonderland

Hi! It snowed last night and this morning I seized the opportunity for snow pictures. After all, who knows if it will snow again; it has only snowed twice this winter in Richmond! I pulled my leopard print dress out of my closet today and paired it with my favorite denim top and brown lace-up boots to dress it down. To keep warm, I wore my black winter coat and coziest sweater tights. My long multi-strand necklace and bow earrings finished this look. Don't forget to enter my giveaway!

DIY: Studded Bracelet

Hi! This spring, arm candy is very trendy. I decided to try my hand at a DIY studded bracelet. I am in love with the results! I can't wait to stack them with other bracelets for a chic look.
Level of difficulty: easy

Cost: less than $5

Supplies: studs, recyclable bag handle, needle, thread, a snap closure button and scissors

How to: First, cut the handle to fit your wrist. Then stud the handle in any pattern you like. Next, sew the snap button closure on. Voila! Instant spring fashion.

Anchors Away

Anchors away! Today I went the nautical route with this anchor skirt. To keep the outfit weather appropriate, I added tights, oxfords and a cardigan. I kept the jewelry relatively simple to let the different textures shine. Anyways, I have to go to an SAT prep class now. Expect some new DIY posts soon!

Like a Fairytale

Hi! These pictures were taken this morning so that explains my haggard expressions. I bought this dress over the summer and wore it for the first time today. I was having a hard time styling this vintage dress partially because it is semi-sheer. However, I solved that problem by wearing a gray tank dress underneath of it. To add shape to the dress, I cinched in the waist with a skinny belt. I also accessorized with a pearl-cameo necklace, sweater tights and oxford flats. An ethereal, fairytale-eqsue look was created. Just in time for Valentine's day!

Swept Away

Hi! It feels like forever since my last outfit post. Today, I wore a new acquisition- this lovely side-slit maxi. I received this skirt as a reward from Chictopia. I love the way the wind tickles my skirt. Another thing I adore about this skirt is that little people are printed on it. How quirky! I can see myself wearing this skirt all year long; it is the perfect transition piece. Although this skirt costs $40, I was able to redeem it for 1500 chic points! What a steal! It is manufactured by Doris Apparel. I'm delighted by this beauty. If you are a fashion blogger, I would definitely recommend joining Chictopia! You can give and get advice, earn rewards (like my skirt!) and interact with other bloggers.

Hi! This spring is all about pastels, floaty fabrics, florals and 1950's-esque fashion. Pleats have been a hot commodity in the spring 2012 fashion shows. I simply adore the way the fabric moves with you. Every turn, step and movement is emphasized in the most delightful way. Luckily pleated skirts are very versatile and can be worn with both day and night looks. My second favorite spring trend is cat-eye sunglasses; I can't wait to sport this fun style! Other top reoccurring trends include florals and pastels. I love the look of floral jeans- very feminine. Wedges are also going to be big this spring and I am dying to stock my closet up with them! Are you going to test any of these trends out?

Fabulous Friday

Hi! I can't believe that I haven't posted in over a week; how crazy! Anyways, my Fabulous Friday pick of this week was Leney from A Girl Named Leney. I have had the privilege of actually meeting Leney in real life and she is a very sweet, down to earth person. We both live in RVA. I love how Leney paired her retro high-waisted pants with a tee shirt and denim top. And do you see her shoes? Urban Outfitters, glitter, high heels- 3 of my favorite things! Thanks for linking up, Leney! If you like her style, check out her tumblr, blog, etsy or facebook page.

As Fab Friday is a weekly event, it is happening again! It's easy to join in. Just follow my blog, link directly up with the linky tool and link back to my blog in your post. You can link up between now and next Friday. Every week, I will choose my favorite look and feature you on my blog. I can't wait to see what you all are wearing!
